    octopus arms!

Hey all. It's been a long time since I post any concept work, and so Im making this thread for that reason.

You might be thinking why red Gorilla? Well, my sketchbook is red, and when Im finished with it(which will be by the end of december, i'll be doing 10-20 pages a day), I'll draw a cool gorilla on the last page.

So here's what I've been up to the last week or so. Enjoy!

Man, I really have to rescan these cuz they look a lot better in real life. I'll have to tweak certain things.....

What do you guys do to your scans so that they come out looking exactly like the real thing?

Usually do the Photo options, and not the Document options, and then tweak it in Photoshop.

Really depends on your scanner, though. I think these scans are fine, especially to house the fucking awesome concepts they contain.

I usually scan it directly into photoshop and hit up the levels option. Just a little thought, and it does depend on your scanner.

Yeah definitely hit up the Levels under Image > Adjust > Levels in Photoshop. Slide that middle slider to the right a little to darken up the mids, for example. Just play around to get it where you want on the auto-preview and voila, you're good to go.

Love these concepts, I'm really excited to see where you'll be in 2, 4, 10 years. Keep hammering away.

Not really. What I do is look at the way other artists draw hands, and then I compare it to my own hand, and the way it moves and looks.

Then I go at it, and hopefully I draw it correctly.

Really nice.. do you ever go into cafés and sketch the people around you? (I´ve been thinking about doing that but I´m kind of afraid that people will get annoyed at me that I´m drawing them, after all, people dont like theyr picture taken) Really inspiring Keep it up man

Thanks again so much everyone. I appreciate your kind words.

I need to get the ball rolling on some painting, so I did this study in painter following kincepts tutorial.

    -Updated:9-15 Digital-

It's got tons of problems, the colors are off, the proportions are messed up, and it just really doesnt work, but you got to start somewhere right? So this is the first of many studies. I just bought this book called portraits and it has some of the best portraits of people from around the world. I suggest everyone get a copy(only 14 bucks). So with the new book Im going to try and do at least one study a day.

Plus, I gotta spruce up my painting skills to destroy mcm in the Thunderdome!

Crits and comments are very welcome!
