#50; Pretty strong pen sketches, very readable. Nice folds, especially in the very first pose.
#56; Improved quite a bit. I like the colours the most, very easy on the eye.
#63; Stylized hair in the last scan looks somewhat Mucha-ish. Nice going.
#78 and titania wips: Nice going. Think the strong points are the mood and general 'feel' of the image. Snake is a great idea, as well as the unusual headdress. I think you lost some sharpness along the way, as well as the shape of the dress. Dizon mentioned the values already though.
#90; Pretty tough pose with the feet like that, and the foreshortening. You also made it very hard for yourself by adding several light sources. Like the hairstyle, by the way.
#95; Perhaps you should take it easier on those heavy lines (esp. mouth area). Recognized him right away though.

    Nice finished illustrations!

Dixon: he he thanks. I am I have to watch it at least every 6 months...(I have come to terms with my film geekiness) and waiting to buy the 'Whole Bloody Affair' with the House of Blue Leaves scene in colour.. hmm enough of that...

Anthis: Hello...thanks so much for the detailed crit, much appreciated. I am having a homestudy time at the moment, brushing up on techniques and practising my tone, lighting and anatomy, just reading at the moment but will post stuff for crit soon...

Noodle: Yay! job done! I like that face better too.

Hey there, too long since I last dropped by!

Think the Titania piece turned out pretty well, good job!
On the sith chow, I think you could've (and should've ) taken some more time to polish it. The blending look sort of messy and a little rushed, and those lines inside her skirt really isn't doing any good. Cool design though, definitely not standard.

Really like those alien doodles in the last post. They look loose and comfortable.

    Hi Hai

thanks for droppin in - Cheers I quite like the Titania one too, but the dress does bug me so will have another go at it (but properly) and change some other things that peeps suggested.

I agree with everything you said about the Sith Chow, I'm beginning to hate it now, there are a few elements I like so as a lesson to myself I'm gonna keep the bits I like and redo the pose/background/lighting and experiment with colours.

Gonna do some sketches this aft for the story idea we're doing. I like the 'Jack the Giant Killer Story' Dizon picked a good one for inspirational ideas.

an update on the centaur - redid the head, wasn't working. Now she looks a little more horsey I think... eyebrow and hairline needs tweaking...and her right arm

The anatomy of the horse looks weird to me. Particularly her front leg. Also is that her hoof in the yellow circle? If it is you have to make that clearer because as a silhouette it looks more like an inexplicable bump.

I also posted some ref pics. Hope it could help.

Hello, miss! I am extremely excited to see your finished EOW.

The transition from horse hair to fair-skinned woman is also a bit extreme, like they were spliced together in some sort of medieval mad scientist's lab... Transitions are key! Articulate

Nice! I would've preferred a darker background just so that green color would stand out.

Cheers Dizon - yeah I'm not happy with the sky I enjoyed doing the abstract shapes for the city though. Managed to sketch out some ideas for Jack the Giant Killer so I can practise my scenery and skies on those this weekend, hopefully have something to post.

Here's my final colour version of my centaur (still gotta tweak her face (lips are bugging me now) - but this isn't the original ps file so didn't want to do too much). Then just got to paste her onto the background. This is the first time I've actually finished my lineart first then coloured...aw!

and here she is finished...unfortunately my internet decided to go down at midnight so I didn't make the deadline - ho hum, well at least it was fun.

quite pleased with it, but there's some brightness and lighting issues that need sorting and some more details I want to refine. Any suggestions?

Those last few tweaks makes a big difference (for the better, I mean ). I like it. I think its biggest flaw is that her face looks so flat. Especially the eyes. Then of course you could always try to apply some more dramatic lighting if you feel up to it. Maybe like moonlight from above, and light bouncing on the water for a secondary lightsource? I dunno, just thinking out loud.

working on the stylized for this month...Jester...couldn't resist. Imagined him as a cross between George Formby and Curtis Eller...on a unicycle - added a dog excitedly bouncing next to him...found some funny ref, not sure if I should leave hiim out...

Also did some sketches last weekend of Jack..

Doodled some cityscapes and castles watching youtube vids, sort of a stream of consciousness exercise (tried the scribble and fill in technique for coming up with different shapes) and came up with a cheeky looking Jack I quite like.

Keep up the sketches, check out Bridgeman and Loomis and do some studies, they will help you put more form into your sketches.

    Keep posting!

#107; Thought this was Grace Jones at first! Must be the hair.
#108; I loved the initial cool and light colour scheme of the city in post 102. The city now seems a bit dark and saturated for its environment. It feels as if you kept adding more colour and strokes, instead of to further define the city and environment shapes. Also, that very first sketch looks very interesting. Still, like the city design, it feels suitable and fitting the 'emerald' feel somehow.
#111; Background light and colour is very saturated and strong, compared to the more subdued colours of your subject. Legs to be on a single plane (flattening the image) although she is turned. Just place your hand over the top of the image to check. Might need to establish your light source more clearly, though I can see you paid attention to that. Don't know to be honest ;o. There's a good feel over the upper body and pose. With the crossbow and picking an arrow. Nice going, fun character.
#114; There's some nice and odd stuff in there. You should do an environment for the group project! Nice Jack concepts too, I also found him to be a bit of a slick, cheeky guy throughout the story.

    Hiya

Finished the Jester for the stylized challenge. And found time today to just chill and draw these gestures for the spartan camp. Couldn't find the current one though so will post here for now

did the majority of these from posemaniacs.com (excellent website) did the 30 seconds section was so good to loosen up my drawing muscles, quite like how few of them turned out..CC welcome

p.s - I just realised the last said was 'from memory'..,,meant to put 'from imagination'...oops

    hi Angelitheuk
i think you should consider "from memory" more correct because your training on posemaniac(or anything else) is the basis for drawing 'solo'
you should remember the strokes you did on posemaniacs (wich are better each image)
remembering logic and thaughts you had when drawing from ref will help you to loosen the imagination stuff.

    keep it mate
