Hi gogo thank you very much I don't think of myself as pretty so that's nice to hear and for the compliment on the linework, yeah I recommend that pen

    Update
Some gestures and studies in pencil and tried to do some gestures in pen but not successful, kept getting interrupted by the phone, will try again tomorrow.

I enjoyed my browse through all your studies and sketches! Very nice stuff going on in here. You seem to be grasping the facial features pretty well but at times you seem to struggle a bit more with the figures. I like that you're doing some studies to remedy that tho! Can't wait to see where you are after more of those! Take care and keep it moving!

Zebz Thanks for stopping by, you're right I am working on my anatomy, it is slow going at the moment, but yeah, I'm enjoying just learning new stuff, we'll see where it goes.

Here's an update on the chow, I changed her completely and added a cat, don't think I'll finish in time for the deadline but I'm gonna give it a try and if not then it's been a learning process

Good amount of studies and they're good in quality too. Sorry to hear you missed the deadline, but you know you learn a lot in doing it (i end up doing nothing about mine ), so it's not so much of a big deal, yeah? To comment on it, i think the carpet's color (the green) is a bit out of place, it's clashing with the overall color scheme, if you intend it to be just an accent then it's too massive to be just an accent. More importantly, it steals too much attention from the focal point (the queen). Just my opinion, i hope it's useful

In all, especially with the studies, i think you're doing good there, keep it up!

Hi Zou thanks, yeah I lost all enthusiasm for the subject and wish I'd just done something completely different. The challenge, for everyone I think, was trying to get her to represent the music style whilst still being regal, funk is about being loose and relaxed and being a queen means being poised and above everyone else. Don't know if I pulled it off but thanks for your opinion, always good to hear

and thanks too Witcrack I did learn alot, and usually I get angry at myself for missing a deadline but I wasn't all into this anyway, as much as I thought I'd be anyway! And I did learn alot yeah, more about how to polish my process from thumbs to the finished piece, and I feel like I'm getting more competent at putting together realistic looking characters out of my head so it's all good. And I agree about the rug, though the clashing colours was mostly intentional as the 70's wasn't a good era for colour coordination. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment I do appreciate it.

Commission for Sarah at work..my god I've been working solidly on this for two days (except for taking some time out and doodling that robot tree) so I'm glad to stop finally and just chill.

Anyway please don't sugar coat crits if you have any, I know it's not the best rendering...

    hi

the tree is nice ! can't really crit when not knowing what was your intention . Honestly i didn't thought of a robot tree but a human buried there.

for the commission work here some suggestion:
perhaps you could integrate them more. shadow on the ground, (depict more the ground)
arrange more composition, (do not center them)
try to create a visual path
building should not rise from his head
the sign could be more in perspective (and growing from the side) to invite the viewer into the canvas.

    keep up good girl
ps: i just known that you were a girl

Thanks Zou I put the title of the DSG on that sketch so it explains it more, thanks for taking to time to make your suggestions, very useful. I knew things weren't working too well, but I had limited time and was ill during half of that (bugger) so my stamina wasn't what it was, but enough of excuses! p.s I must not sound too girly in my posts, yeah I'm the only female in our group, that's ok though, I'm not really a girly girl ;D

Here's a wip, of Vivienne Westwood, thought I'd start colouring the sketch a did a while ago, now I've got some time to do some random stuff I want.

Hey Angel, I love the etchings! What a cool way to archive your art. Fun caricatures as well. If you don't mind, I would suggest pushing the exaggeration even further. It becomes a fun challenge to see how far you can ahem, mangle the portrait while keeping a strong likeness. I love doing caricatures, but, I'd like to get more experience doing so.

That's an awesome character. Very strong in design and personality. The light source from one primary direction works really well, too.
Curious to see how you finish the space between her arms a and torso.

You have a great SB going here. Keep enjoying the process. We're enjoying the results.

Parsakoira Thanks very much! took me a minute to realise you meant fairy lol I liked the piece, lovely style but yeah, it didn't say monarch of music to me either. I really really loved Bangalore Monkey's

BlackDelphin Hiya and thanks for dropping by I will try and please

Aztecfireflower Never thought of etching as a way of preserving my artwork but that's a very good point! I need to finish them and then see if I can do some more. You're right about me not pushing the boundaries on my caricatures enough, I say that to myself everytime I do them then doubt keeps getting in there, 'Oh what if it doesn't look enough like them' and 'Don't want to offend them, they have to pay me for it' lol one day I'll get there. I'm also interested how I'm going to fill that space in between Viv's bodice and arms, I have no idea yet, any thoughts?

Well, this is just an angel I doodled after looking at this guys site...http://www.beksinski.pl/ was blown away by his style, lovely rendering and his homepage is awesome

Thanks Zou It's been a while since I last did watercolour, feeling a bit rusty and hesitant.

Here's a quick sketch, based on ref. Just trying something different.
