Austin Sketch Group, Sunday Nov 16th @ The Hideout!!!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW!!!! READ IT ALL THIS TIME (at least the stuff with the asterisks)!

* We had a fantastic turnout at last Sunday’s Sketch Group (almost 20). A big welcome to all of the new people who showed up! Thanks for finding us! Big big thanks to everyone who has been spreading the word about this thing. I only hope that everyone who has been coming out on Sundays is getting as much out of drawing with so many incredible artists as I am.

** The A.S.G. DRINKING AND DRAWING PUB CRAWL is ON!!!! We’ll be doing this on SATURDAY, NOV 15th... See below for details!!!!!!!!

***Please please please help me spread the word about the Austin Sketch Group! Send this email to anyone else that might be interested in something like this! Post to message boards! Tell someone on the street! Let’s get some more momentum in the community! Pros, students or anyone else with a passion for drawing should be encouraged to come!

**** If you don’t want these emails anymore, reply to me and I’ll take you off the list. Seriously.****

Info:
I've started a Sketch Group in Austin to meet weekly for general stupidity and drawing. Comic artists, illustrators, animators, concept artists, and the like should attend. Everyone that goes, draws. Some of us professionally, some for fun. Either way, this is a completely casual, cool way to do what you love.

Why:
Inspiration, motivation, trading ideas, grow, learn, network, drink coffee, beers, make friends, be productive and because we like drawing, dammit.

Who:
Anyone who LOVES to draw, cartoon, make comics, posters, animation, whatever.

What Should I Bring?
1. Yourself
2. Drawing stuff, traditional or non-traditional or digital or whatever
3. Some past work, published or otherwise, for a meet-and-greet.
4. Whatever else floats your tuna.

When:
Sunday, Nov 16th... (every Sunday)

Time:
1:30 PM – 5, 6, 7 ish or something.

Where:
The Hideout, 617 Congress, between 6th and 7th St. Facing the Cap building, it’s on the right-hand side of the street.

We’re going to be holding our first Austin Sketch Group event this Saturday, Nov. 15th. That’s right...

DRINKIN’ AND DRAWIN’: The Austin Sketch Group PUB CRAWL!!!

Time: 8:30 PM – last call
Starting Place: Lovejoy’s (604 Neches St., between 6th and 7th)
Map: http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed...+tx&country=us

The rules go like this: One sketchbook, a bunch of artists...
We go to a bar, order drinks, and the first person in line draws a one page, one panel comic in the sketchbook. Time limit: 15 minutes.
When time’s up, the sketchbook gets handed off to the next person who then continues a narrative.
After 2 or 3 people draw, we walk to the next bar and continue. We bar hop and draw this thing until last call.
The result of this experiment will be posted on the new Austin Sketch Group website (currently in development).
The worst pieces of drunken art will (hopefully) get made into “Don’t Drink and Draw” T-Shirts to be worn by participants at the next pub crawl.

We’ll start out at Lovejoy’s and be there until 9:30 (to wait for the not-so-punctual) If you want to participate and don’t plan on drinking, you will be one of the first to make your impression on the sketchbook.

** Send me some suggestions for bars/pubs we should invade! Something in the 4th, 5th, 6th St. area, because we’re on foot.

** Bring your I.D.s and money. Nothing’s free in this cruel cruel world. If you’re broke, get a sponsor.

** Make sure you have a designated driver if you get too smashed. Cabs are good too. Anyone who needs a place to crash can stay in my luxurious (read: shitty) living room. One lucky person can sleep on my couch. And yes, I will have more to drink here if you’re not ready to call it a night.

** Anything bad that happens is not my responsibility or the responsibility of the Austin Sketch Group. You are all old enough to take care of yourselves.

** Sketch Group will go on as scheduled the next day.

Now let’s get drinking!
