Your digitals are sick. I am not good enough to criticise them yet.
Pencil : Take your time. Draw some really light guidelines and think in 3d.
    Keep up the updating!

bigfooTrooper : Thanks bro ! Well, i don't just have to work onrendering, but on everything ! Anyway, during a month, i'll only work on traditionnal things ( i will finish this digital study though ) work on perspective, anatomy, improve my drawing skills, working on watercolors :p will be fun !

    MacTire : Thanks man !

SamC : *** man, your advices are always good ! you're right, i was so much focusing that the darkest and the lightest value were good that i forgot inbetween values ! Lol, and don't whorry about that, i'll finish this painting !

Dilated : Thanks ! Yeah have to improve my line :p

FraserMcT : Thanks man ! Lol, you don't need to be good at digital painting to critic it haha ! Say what you think about it ! The more i have different advices and point of views, the more i can improve ! Anyway, it's nice you're here !

Well, started to work more with ink, it will improve my lines quality as hell ( i hope lol ) Started to draw faces from ref, it still looks ugly and flat, but with time, it will be better ! did a sp with ink, it was hard, i can't erase and do it again ( well, it's the goal of using ink :p ) an a few hands on A3 paper, hard, but quite cool !

It looks like you always force yourself to get continuous lines, and closed contours, like how you tend to give the eyes an oval outline sometimes instead of using the lines to indicate value and plane changes.

Try and be more "loose" with your approach. Vague, I know. Broken lines are useful, especially when using ink since it is a constant tone.

Also, try and avoid perpendicular lines for hatching, unless you want to describe a flat plane.

Anyway, nice update, plenty of stuff and those faces are looking more realistic.

dude , haha i see that you like to draw with clean line and so , but is definitely not your stile of drawing , instead of forcing yourself to a stile that you might be attracted to , you should put more time in the way you feel like doing it , because then is easier to understand other things ... cuz you will not think of your line or your pencil your mind will be where it should be ... cheers

Hands are improving nice stuff man,
I think you should stay away from ink sp's for the moment, use pencil more so you can keep attempting to get the right structure, then when you get used to it try some more inks.

Your lines are getting way better.
Use your lines sensibly, ask yourself what each line will do to the piece before putting it down, this is especially true with your noses.
Remember to not just outline things. Look at some of the pros on here, and look at their portraits. Unlike you, they do not outline the lips or draw the nose like you. This is because by drawing the outline, you lose information about the edges (hard, firm, soft and lost) Hence why in a lot of sketches, they tone the background.
    Keep it up!

great seeing you work hard, only way to go!
One of my few cents considering your lifestudies, especially the hand.
It seems a bit that your are searching for the outlines only to lay your lines down on the paper, which means that you seem to forget thinking about the mass your hand in that case is having in space. Try to work from the "inside to the outside" a bit more, meaning building the hand up from bones and muscles. don't put all of it on the paper just think about it, keeping in mind that the hand is a mass consistiong of various smaler masses. I think it's important to find more than one way of thinking while drawing, it will help you check yourself more easily. Sometimes it's easier to lay in the outline, sometimes it is more efficient to "build up" the drawing or to look at negative space or simple shapes....stuff like that

nice mate, that latest one from life is very lovely, your sense of colour seems to trump your basic drawing skill slightly at the moment, but your really working on that which is good to see, keep going bro.

Awsumness improvement I dig what you're doing with the faces, the only flaw i can see is maybe that the eyes are too wide but that depends on your refs. Try some stuff where you sketch out your base in rough and then describe the facial features through the values you see. The chicks are looking hot man. I think we should OC soon Keepitup

i like the improvement! your faces need work on the noses sometimes but your pretty good other wise. Try doing more detailed faces as well, with wrinkles or something. Btw your one girl you painted here:

    http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1242932944

looks to plastic, try making it more skin like.

btw really like the bowl life paint. I should do a life paint sometime...been doing to many things from photographs.

My observational skills may be great but i said nothing about my drawing skills

Nice SB! Keep those studies up and running for miles and miles, but also keep trying different approaches when it's about gesture drawing. Today I'm lacking some English skills so I find it a bit hard to explain but, remember to be sure that you really know what's going on underneath that shape or contour lines, were the bones are, how the muscles are working, etc. You've got some very good suggestions of what to try (check what Gloominati says, for example) and I think your gesture drawings and understanding of shapes and anatomy and all that could benefit if you give them a try.

    Cheers!

SamC : thanks dude, yeah, i'll try some heads with only values, it looks fun ! for now i'm focused on the anatomy and the gesture drawing + faces ! i'll try to improved in that way for a few months ! Thanks again, and for the oc, well, you're in New york, and this week there will be the thunderdome, so maybe the next week !

My57 : Thanks ! Yeah, i wasn't really happy with the portrait, it looks so fake, without life ! but i'll keep practicing, will do quick studies of faces, etc ! and will improve in that way !

JailHouseRock2 : thanks Matt ! Yeah, i'm also glad of my improvment, but i'm faaar away from my goals, so will keep it up !

Mr. Phil : haha thanks Phil !

luness : thanks man ! I really appreciated your post ! well, i totally agree with you ! the thing is that i don't know anatomy very well, so i'll learn anatomy as hell, and i'll take some refs, but i won't draw the lines, but the skeleton, then the muscles, like you said ! Thanks for your comment

Well i didn't scan the stuff i did today, so i'll only show you some skintones studies, they mostly sucks, because my anaatomy's knowledge sucks ! so i didn't know the shapes of the body -_- i used the sketches of my bro Hygami, who helped me so much with skintones ! THAAAAANKS BROOOOO !
Well, i'll do the newborn thunderdome ! I know i won't go far, but it will be a great experience, to draw " against" other artists, and i hope i'll learn things, and that to motivate me a lot more, to study more, to be better and to win the next thunderdome
