    Jade Gem

(accidently posted this in fine arts, sorry, sorry im a newbie to the site)
Just a simple Gem study I did, I looked at two different versions of stones and combined them, also added in Clockwork to make this seem like a "belt buckle" (it was part of a thing for school..)

and, augh, I messed up the resolution and everything trying to figure out how to get things to the right size and everything... xD; im horrible when it comes to measurements and stuff like that.. but, here it is anyways.

everything seems a bit messy to my eye, and its not symmetrical. Maybe you should brighten up the highlights

I'm not sure if this is only the scan, but everything looks a little faded; adding a bit of a shadow under the whole gem would help bring it out a little more.

what do you mean by symmetrical? (sorry)
I know that symmetry means balance, but, I don't exactly understand what you mean here because I didn't mean to repeat the shape.

yes, gears and sprockets generally dont quite perform their functions if they're not circular, and i would recomend just uping the contrast for a quick fix

oh.. sorry I misunderstood you, I know exactly what you mean now.

I need to spend more time making things look neater and focus on drawing shapes the way they should be rather than just going off of a cheap rough sketch.
Is there anything else you can point me out on?

aha, you know I actually colored the gem upside down apart from the gear..
I realized it when I was near finished and felt incredibly stupid afterwords.
