About listing freelance work on your resume...

I've got a few questions on what to do once I've acquired a few freelance experiences...

Should I list it under one large section with small summaries of each job or should I list each company separately (as if it were a long-term job) with a notation that it was freelance work?

What are some details you should include when listing freelance work? Examples: type of work (of course), how much you submitted, how much you were payed per piece or over time, etc?

Is it possible to list a company you freelanced for as a contactable reference (this is of course if they were satisfied with you and you asked permission)?

And finally, how many freelance jobs is it acceptable to display on your resume?

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum and thanks ahead of time to all who reply.

A freelance job is still a job. Why would you think a separate "section" or distinction be made? An employer is likely to figure out that when you were an Art Director for such-n-such company, that was full-time...versus that mural you did for the local school, anyway.

Alright. Thanks for the clarification. I just wasn't sure.

I list Freelance game artist 1998-2004 (for exemple) and underneath I make a sublist of projects and clients so I don't have to rewrite freelance everytime and it makes a neat block of work. Listing many small jobs scares employers who think you can't keep a job.
