Actually, I think that's the main segment of the economy that will be hurt by a now-likely Obama/Biden victory. There will be massive unemployment in the sector.

Good plan. We haven't had anyone edible in the oval office since...ummm...ahhh...Clinton?

They could have added "attack opponent" right before do something cute. She had a couple zingers in there. I thought Biden would bite back but he kept after McCain.

the race is about to get real nasty. will be interesting to see how it plays out. mccain and palin are looking completely desperate for being so negative..hopefully that comes across to others over the next month.

    Finally!!!

"Swift boat" has nothing on this. This may go down in history as the most effective attack on a presidential candidate.
I knew they were working on this one behind the scenes, but I didn't know that they made a 15min documentary and a dedicated website.
They also emphasize how this kind of behavior has affected the current economic crisis. Ouch!

    Watch the documentary.

As someone who has prepared quarterly accounts just for the big boys to come in to audit, it doesn’t surprise me one whit that the world is in the mess it is now. Talking about small fry, they still couldn’t see the wood for the trees and yet the investing public expects to be given a true and fair position. Liquidity rules should have been rigorously enforced, because without liquidity, you don’t have a business. The old basis of liquidity was ignoring any assets held and dealing with cash, creditors and vastly reduced debtors. When you’ve decimated a balance sheet, only then can you see if a company is worth the paper it says it is.

When you deregulate, you take out all those assurances for liquidity out and in ye olde world of accountancy these would have been the cornerstones of investment. It meant the banks had to be able to ride the bad times as well as the good. Deregulation meant high growth without any money to support it and it was always riding for a fall.

It seems to be missing 9/11 and the burst tech bubble. Don't know why. Seems to be missing the fact that the current liquidity crisis has a lot to do with Democratic action and inaction as well as Republican, as well as Wall Street and Main Street. Don't know why they would leave that out. Or that W can't create hurricanes (except of bad grammar) and that the weakness of the New Orleans levees has been known for about 80 years under constant Democratic leadership in Lousiana, and yet nothing was done about it during all that time. Jeez, why leave that out? Why would you say its all FEMA's fault? Cause if you wanted to be honest about causes you wouldn't just blame one side or another. You'd take a nuanced view. A nuanced view would be real "change."

Unfortunately, there's only one possible explanation: politics is full 'o shite populist horsehockey.

    Naw. Couldn't be.

    Believe on.

This sums up why I'm voting for Obama: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...100203043.html

Which is to say, Obama inspires and what we need now more than ever, especially after 8 years of W, is inspiration.

And (Slightly off topic) here's a soft-spoken, yet profound article about whether an Obama presidency might be the long awaited signifier for the "End of Racism" :http://chronicle.com/free/v55/i07/07b01101.htm

Nice article Kev. The question that he asks about "Do you really know what he believes?" I think I do. I've read both his plans posted on his website, and I have read McCains plans posted on his website...that is why I am voting for Obama. I agree more with Obama's plans than I agree with McCain's plans.

I do think the Reagan ad is funny...it takes the words of a President considered to be the greatest of all time by a vast majority of this generations Republicans and shows the direct tie in to Obama's current strategy. That same message probably applied to the Kerry campaign, and almost every other non-incumbent running over the last 50+ years.

Of course...it isn't any funnier than a chain email I received from one of my Republican friends that points out the similarities of qualifications between Palin and Teddy Roosevelt.

I think the question of what Obama really believes is still out there because of Obama's quality of rhetoric and charisma and the changes he has undergone since the early Democratic primaries. Conservatives tend to distrust rhetoric/charisma (see bill clinton) as "acting" or "putting on a song and dance show" which is used to trick moderates into voting for "McGovernites" in disguise. That is, the populist act tends to be a smiling middle-of-the-road Trojan horse for the "real" marxoid agenda. Of course Reagan was also an actor and his entire presidential life was stage managed Hollywood style. But he pretty much kept to his guns politically from the 1950s until the day he died. You knew where he stood.

Conservatives of all stripes tend to view the founding fathers as the greatest presidents.

I can't believe how Palin is being marketed. It really does smack of desperation to me.

this is always the case with every career politician ...
will we know any better in 2012?

will we ever know bush, clinton , bush, reagan, carter, ford etc?
these men are mythologized from the campaign trail to the ground breaking of their memorial library...then it really gets going.

and everyone with a brain distrusts "rhetoric/charisma" you betchya.

so all we really have is the factual record of their personal histories .
although painfully few and far between ..these milestones are out there to be found.

I'm watching it right now. Yeah it's pretty amazing they had already put this together beforehand. This isn't something they could have done since Palin's remark on sunday. It makes a person wonder what else obama's campaign has up it's sleeve.

Has anyone taken a look at the things Obama wants to do with the economy? Doubling capital gains taxes and whatnot? It's pretty frightening stuff, especially given that we're in the middle of a big selloff as it is.
