The annual Illest of Illustration show is fast approaching here at Ringling. Tonight we all made a bunch of stickers to sell at the fundraiser. Here's my first contribution:

Goog- majoring in illustration i assume?

My Illustration teacher this year, George Pratt, has been assigning us illustrations on Tuesday that are due on the Friday of the same week. This is like 1/10th of the time that we were alloted last year. So our first one was about Rwandan peace baskets. I tried to make it look like the woman whose family was slaughtered is forgiving the killer but he can't forgive himself. Spent about 2 1/2 hours on it so its still pretty rough

Awesome sketchbook. Your figure studies are great, the line work and values are phenomenal.

While going through I saw some posts that mentioned Ringling.. are you a student there and what major? Also, do you have any opinions on the game art and design major there?

Anyway, five stars from me it was a pleasure looking at your work.

    great sketchbok.

What he made you remove the selfportrait? What a jealous dick he is.

I would have painted a huge pair of hairy balls at night on his office door for that.

love the way you lower the contrast in the shadows, gives your work a nice amount of body. Dope stuff man.

Actually I am in the game art and design major, although I may transfer to illo down the road if things go sour. And yes, those wire models suckkedd balls. I hate that 3-d design class in general.

And a crit on that last piece so this post isn't useless: I know that the painting is still early on, but it isn't especially clear as to whether or not the the guy is accepting or rejecting the basket.

BTW, do you know Scott Prather?

That last illustration is really great! And in such a short time too! Love the colour scheme, and the figures look wonderful. Splendid job.

Hey man, nice sketchbook here. I think the man could have used a little more emotion in the last painting. On the other hand, the anatomy is very good and the colors and lighting all contribute to the mood of the piece. Great work!

Harkins- thanks. Yep I'm a junior illustrator at Ringling. I have a bunch of friends in game art. They are actually the first batch of students to sign up for it because it was just introduced when we were freshmen. They seem to really like it, they've been doing level design stuff mostly I think
    Ayden- thanks bro
R a n d i s- thanks man. My principal was one of the dumbest people ever and said that "artists don't put themselves in their work". I snuck in some mushrooms and pot leaves into Bob Marley's dreads though. And our senior prank involved paint and winded up costing the school over $6,000 to fix so I'd say it's almost about even lol
    valerimarinov- thanks
    Johny 5- thanks man
Goog- yeh my model said he has a tough time showing emotions so it's pretty ambiguous looking.
and yeah, Scott's my boy. we should all chill sometime
    sansan- thanks a lot!
    Monkeydominator- thank you very much
cl0aked- yeh my model sucked and I was too pressed for time to try and spice him up. might rework it some day

here are some sketches from over the summer. also here's a monochrome from figure class last week. about 2 and a half hours. it was my first time using oils in over a year (!) and my first time doing figurative work in oils in more than 2 and a half years (!!) so I made a horrible mistake in staining the canvas with linseed oil. every damn brushstroke lifted off paint. I learned my lesson lol

awesome thread, what size is this?

I'm thinking of making myself such thing and usual A5 would be a little too small(?).
I especially want to paint into it too, like you do.
