Quite the SB you got here, sir -- that high school mural was amazing, btw; and your figure drawing is great You make me regret not going to art school ... but you inspire me at the same time, so it's okay

AmontilladoAg, conti, aaro_n, Wasker: Thanks a lot guys!
BubbleB: thanks, I go to the Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, FL

Here's a portrait I did at the end of the summer during a fantastic workshop by Tony Ryder. I had a little more than 3 hours to do this one which is probably the the longest I've ever had to draw from a live model in one sitting so I think it shows in it looking calmer and more relaxed than my usual stuff.

pencilgeek: haha thanks a lot. I would advise if you're just starting out to copy your ass off. Trace stuff. Just try to get your drawing to look exactly like the original and then some of it's bound to find its way into your own work.

    GunTrouver: thanks, get crackin'!

Here's a long pose from my figure class today, about an hour and 45 mins. I think I made the top of his head too big and it kinda looks like an alien from Mars Attacks

Yeah the head came out a bit too large in your last post, but the portrait of the girl up there is really nice.

I went to the Ringling museum to draw in the sculpture courtyard but it was hotter than hell out there and I was wearing black jeans so I only stayed for about 30mins before I melted. blah.

Looking through your sketchbook was quite a pleasure- It'll be exciting to see what you do with all this skill.
When I was looking for colleges, I actually visited Ringling- I bet if I had seen some of your work it might have swayed me to go there instead. :]
"A drawing is not necessarily academic because it is thorough, but only because it is dead. Neither is a drawing necessarily academic because it is done in what is called a conventional style, any more than it is good because it is done in an unconventional style. The test is whether it has life and conveys genuine feeling."- Harold Speed

I saw Team America for the first time (0_o) a couple days ago at the prompting of a couple friends who were shocked that I didn't know why they kept saying "Matt Damon" in retard voices. Needless to say I laughed my ass of. My friend's birthday was yesterday so I painted this up for her:
