The last portraits look good. Don't forget the edges, though. There are too many soft edges right now.

Also, work on your temperatures a little. Richard Schmid says, when an image looks slightly muddy, it is usually the temperature that has gone wrong. Right now, the portraits look a little muddy.

I hope you don't mind the crit; keep updating.

the dark blue you chosen seems off, try getting some reference studying on colour shifts on the face alone. Eye-drop if if you have to, because sometimes the colour you think you see isn't actually the colour. So double check on that

I think it might help you to start with another background color, the white shows through some places.

    Keep those updates coming

Nice update. I like how you've handled the eyes; actually, overall, it looks like quite a leap from your last work.

However, I have to point out that you're using too many soft edges at the outline. Do keep the play between soft and hard going even at the outline regions where the figure meets the bg.

Great improvement, though. Keep the work coming.

@Vritra thx! oh yea totally forgotten bout edges, was too bogged down by the colors, haha.

something i was struggling with these few days. When i thought color was my main problem i realized that i wasnt good with leg anatomy...

anyway this is my version of CHOW's Chess piece, this here is the pawn. Still a bit more to go and think the bg's not gonna stick. Probably will come up with something new.

    Crits r welcomed

Hey, the last update is looking great. I love how you've set up this dynamic perspective. Also liking the figure getting shot at in the foreground.

Looking forward to seeing you work more on this one.

I really like #4. Hat makes it look complete and balanced as well. But i think it's because of the colour scheme as well. The clothes give a dark green impression to me, which in return remind me of aliens. Perhaps add more green-purple-blue tints when rendering. It's an alien so it feels like there should be more colour. And these are my 2bits.
    Anyway, looking forward for more!

And i'll keep dropping by! There's a lot to see in here, and i hope it will remain that way.
Looking forward in seeing that CHOW updated as well!

@p sage thank you for dropping by yea got lots of time on my hand now. just waiting to sch to start. Hope to make my time worth while.
@BlackDelphin thank you so much! haha k then i will try my best to not disappoint. and the adding green was a great idea! thx! it helped a lot especially in my color explorations

It's a pity i'm in asia as CA.org's the most active during a time when i'm not . If not i believe i am able to get really awesome instant feedback. But at least i've got you guys around. thx!

to make sure i finish good, i've took a full process of explorations. Did some designs and costume, now for color! (though i only did like 2 for composition ) I prefer the btm 2, which ones do you guys prefer?

I don't know which is the 2btm one xD
In any case, here are my thoughts.

First of all yey! You updated that, and you're really setting up that ground work. I like how you're going at this slowly, not rushing the ground work. Keep this up, and it'll turn out great! And if you feel there's something that isn't working, go look it up, study it! Don't just scribble and move forward. It'll add up and that's how i mostly ruin y work
    So don't do like me!

Colours..i don't like the night ons, or the really dark, saturated ones. It gives an uneasy feeling, and they're aliens.
So it's disturbing as it is. No need for more of that xD
Sepia one looks plane to me. So that makes the 4 lower ones fall.
The purple with yellow one makes me think of a grasshopper..
The first one from the row, i like the sky, but i don't like how it blends with everything else,
and the 2nd one from the first row makes me think of the dinosaur era more, rather then aliens.
    It dominates the picture.

So i go with the one on the 2nd row, on the right. It pops out the most!

That aside, i'm curious which one you'll choose in the end.

edit: i like how you flipped the canvas like that, has better flow

    Hi there, just dropping by.

I'm really unqualified to make any serious comments as I'm very new to CA and art in general, but I would like to say that your sketchbook has some really good stuff. I especially liked your COW entry and your boxer studies. However, the apple and orange study looked like you could give it a better shot. This is just my personal opinion.Your work in silhouettes and black and white in general tend to show up better.

@BlackDelphin hey thank you so much for those comments. but i'm sorry to say i gave up in the end was struggling with the pose of the alien, anatomy of the din, perspective of zombies and of coz color. I actually was only struggling with color until i tried to fix my alien dude and all my incompetencies started seep through..sorry to disappoint..but those comments of yours really helped a lot! esp regarding the colors!

@Aishani thx for dropping by! yea i need a lot of work in color..and thx again!

was struggling real bad last week…and was bogged down with some other unrelated stuff. Anyway, i'm back and school's starting soon. Time to warm up my engines!

Hey man, the last update looks good - very moody. Although, I think you could really step up the work by fixing a primary light source. Right now you've pretty much just modeled the form, which is making it look a little flat.

I hope this helps; keep the art coming.

    More work, more work! Mush!

It's hard to critique WIPs! So it's time to crack the whip!

(Just explore for a while if you feel the urge to escape the arts. Don't let drawing get too precious. Get your hands dirty sometimes!)

@Vritra thx! man, that was spot on! After you mentioned it, it really seems that all my past work (those without references) are done without a prominent or thought out lighting design. Think that might be what's lacking for me to push on. Thx!

@p sage yea..so true haha. Yes, more will come! I'm not sure why but lately it seems like I can't find the drive to draw/paint like i used to. I'm not sure whats happening, but I kinda feel lost on what to really draw or what to really work on every single time i sit in front of my sketchbook or computer. Hope this goes away soon. I'll do my best!

Ever since the dino piece, I feel that i kinda lacked in something and just can't seem to find a particular subject to work on (maybe there's just too much of them).

So…its been a really slow week. But anyways here's what i got for cghub's drawing jam: monsters and demons

I just came here to see on a quick term
the yongs guy's conceptual art and then you
surprised me totally, made me to spend an hour
analyzing your work. You are talented and gifted for
sure, but why aren't you working more harder?
Some of the stuff you did is really amazing, and
those storyboards and the material studies on
the previous page. Man, you are awesome.
