Well, I'll be honest, you DO get a little fed up with sci-fi after a while. Just had the skytrain and I was up for anything, really!
Still, very delicious topic of course, trying to work something up for this, too...

No I agree also, just being sarcastic with the farm thing...maybe alittle too sarcastic. I differently think it's makes things even more possibly interesting and maybe broader.

    Okay...time to start drawing.

Pretty awesome topic. I might have to take a stab at spaceships and give this one a try.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

    I'm sorry guys

I hope I can spend time on this one, because i have to move this week. I did make a thumb though. I thought about the spaceship having crashed into a greek/roman civilization.

    Hey All,*Salutes
I haven't participated or even posted here yet, but this weeks EOW looks pretty neat. Couple quick question tho.... I just read through the faqs about EOW and it clearly stated that Wips are not accepted as final candidates but are they required as a presentation of progress throughout the week?
If not I apologize in advance... Here's my meager beginnings in the form of an uber WIP!

Some messy assed thumbs. Hurray! Personal note to self- messy thumbs get you nowhere, stop being lazy.

It took me ages deliberating over this, im sick of cities, im sick of urban. I know i'll have to do some eventually but for now, im avoiding it like the plague.

Went through a lot of messy thumbs trying to get ideas out. A lot of them were just scribbles because i just didnt know what angle to approach this from.

Initially i was going to do an interior with monitors showing the disaster, and a few upturned chairs, dropped food etc to show that people had reacted to it but i decided that was going too far out the box, and i was cheating myself out of doing the brief properly.

The first here was inspired a bit by cloverfield, since everything starts when the guys are sitting outside on the balcony. Really dont want to do urban though, so yeah, messy mess.

Second is a 'failed mission to mars'. This time the alien is watching out, and the city is underwater. I like the idea of messing with water a lot, and the potential for really playing with the lights.

Third is the one im most likely to go for, if not just because it has the most going on. The ship in the centre has either crashed recently in a city in india or been there for hundreds of years- i have yet to decide which yet, will be elaborated on tomorrow. The locals have decreed it a gift from the gods thanks to the soft light it gives off and have decorated it with streamers, flowers and beautiful painted murals. People bathe in the water it has crashed into//which has collected in the crater, believing it has healing properties, and the area has became a sacred place of pilgramage.

This is basically the base for the mood and feel of my wip. Don't know where I'll take the story but I want to make this a little bigger, definitely more epic. This is my first attempt at a digital environment so I'm exploring a lot of new territory... tips and crits-bring em'
Cool topic btw, leaves a lot of room for creativity for the artist

This sounds interesting. Two noob questions:
    - Do we post our entrie first here, only here or only in the final bruning thread?
    - Does it have to be a modern, big city? Village can go as well?

Thanks a lot, I know this has been told like bazillion times but I dont participate much in here, so yeah..

    Cheers,

    Khan

Hey Khan, would be great to see you taking a stab!
Just post anything in here, WIPs, finals. You'll post the final with an icon in the final burning thread later as well when it's up.

As far as the topic goes: interpret as you wish as long as it stays true to it regarding the required stuff which for this seems to be "spaceship, planet, city". But a village is equally fine I am sure.

as Hideyoshi says. your WIPS are not required, but here in EOW, folks are awfully helpful, and if you need other eyes to look at your piece this is a good place to post it. we do have people that stealthily post eyecandy in the Final burning thread without ever having posted in the WIP thread. and thats ok too
just depends on how you want to work

Another Noob question.. There's mention that a city is required but Vyse has no city in his image. I'm not trying to ruin Vyse entry but just picking an entry and wondering how tight the theme is. I will post a w.i.p later, excited by entering my first EOW.
