ever try going step-by-step in the motion of movement? Adding the inbetweens?

Try it in Flash, can't hurt to see your work in actual movement to tell how you're developing.

I know there's this animator who creates some really cool stuff.

Think the character's name is Bitey. www.biteycastle.com

    More pear-based screwballs

Nah, I'm not up to animation yet. More dynamic poses will start sneaking in at least, though. Movement comes later, just don't hold your breath!

I've seen Bitey movies before on Newgrounds. It's nice stuff for Flash animations, I guess... but I don't like it. Weren't it for the voice-over in the latest movie, I wouldn't have a clue about the internal state of that creature. Visually, it's emotionless.

Also, I just don't like Flash vector animation in general. Compared to classic toons like 40s Bugs Bunny, it has no soul whatsoever. It just swooshes, dashes, rotates, scales, and flips from static pose to static pose.

But that's just my opinion, and reason why I'll stick to classic cartoons for examples and inspiration.

When I speed up a little more, I'll start going beyond Preston Blair studies again.

    Cool. I can respect that.

There's a book out there with tex avery's work in it. 50 years of tex avery or someting. Might want to search it out.

Good luck an keep at it.

Oh, oh, there's another book,I own this one, draw the looney tunes: the warner bros. character design manual.

Hey, interesting sketchbook you have You have some stuff going but I think I can help you out some.

The painting you did on the ladybug was awesome, because I'm sure you used reference. And the more you use reference in the beginning (and later on in your art careear) the better you will get. You base your art on knowledge you know

I'd also suggest that you work with grayscale for a while so you get a grasp of tone, that will help you greatly!

Nice spirit you have still, keep that spirit up and it will reward you Hope I've helped in some way.

    Need a hand?

LironGabriel: Thank you, though I can't say I have my own style yet. No hurry, fundamentals first!

Loathsome: Yea that's solid advice, I give some like that too myself. I'll focus on toons for a bit, but will get back to life studies and values at some point.

Ah holy crap I forgot to go to the last page I just checked the first page. I really like those cartoony studies you have going there. I'd love to see more of those, it really adds a new flavor to this forum where most people do more realistic stuff.

Thanks for visiting my sketchbook as well

The colored Lopunny is a workflow test for coloring a scan in ArtRage and getting it online with the correct color profile. As ArtRage ignores color profiles, I used GIMP to convert the image from my personal color profile to sRGB.
