An object with "凶" (xiong, bad omen) and "吉" (ji, good sign) on each side, probably not the emperor, but the prophet or someone who's suppose to be closer to heaven and ask for directions that involves the interest of the nation, maybe a court wizard of ancient china, the wording are around han dynasty's carving. which means the carving should be less delicate.

Only a few notes on this round:

First of all, it doesn't really surprise me that there are so little entries this time. However, I'm very pleased with the result of the few who did enter this time. I think on both a creative and technical level you've all pushed yourself to go beyond the seemingly boring topic and made something cool to look at. Cheers to you

Miniphase: Shame you didn't get much further than the sketches, the first ideas looked interesting. Would've been good to see them more finished.

Zenichi: It might have been a surprise for you to find yours in the poll, but you've owed your place by sheer effort and because you dared to try out some outlandish ideas. The final rendering could of course have used some more time, but the one die you did manage to render conveys its material and form well enough to make up for the sketchy second one.

oh sorry, i really thought it was too simple for a description. for the sake of it all though mine are cut crystals engraved with sacred symbols. these are a one of a kind set passed down from generation to generation within a family of fortune-tellers, and they are used to help read the destinies of children.

ok I admit it, I came up with it just right now, lol.

vote for arthur, I like the symbols and the texture he went for. I like the idea zenichi has, but he admittedly ran out of time with the rendering and that was a big thing this round. great idea though.

funny I went in a game store the other day and all the dice they had sucked compared to some of the ideas we "threw" around LOL

Arthur, did you use the 'Earth' Symbol from Stargate on purpose, or totally unintentionally?

here's a "more completed" version, although still sketchy, just to make the other dice less distracting (or maybe the motion blur is making it even worse?), hope to get c&c, as i didnt put it up early enough to get any....

Arthur 'Two Sheds- texture, colour and material and the slightly "scared" faces convey the concept of heavily used or long history. i like the clean background to contrast and present the idea.

Artiphats- same great achievement as arthus two sheds in rendering, really convey the crystal's polished material, and engraving is also very suitable, i just felt that the background in your WIP's black would convey a more mystical atmosphere? (edit 1: thanks for the "reminder", would have easily opt-out on this round )

so my vote went to the background? hmm...

voted for artiphats mainly for : perspective and rendering (the reflection and stuff and the dice lines from behind are kinda visible only on the sadow area and stuff like that , looks like a really smooth crystal dice ) and its not a regular 6 faced dice
