My name is Jordy Knoop. I'm 18 years old and I like to draw.
Skip to the last page for the newer hopefully better work!
Looking forward to you updating this one more often dude
Quick crit is that you often make the gap between the nose and mouth too long, which gives quite an ugly look to characters, so it works fine with trolls and stuff, but you might wanna work some more on facial proportions. Keep it up
looking good man, good to hear you're kickin yourself in gear again and getting ready for some serious commitment about life drawing as well (not like some other lazy fucker i know hehe)
keep pushing yourself out of your comfort zone
I started my selfportrait and damn they are hard. I wanna start making them a routine in the hope that they'll ever look like me. I first started out in color but i got freaked out by the fact that the skin exists out of 10000 frickin different colors. So the first ones are gonna be b/w. This one isn't even near finished but mom told me to quit and i still felt like posting. It's not done and it sucks, doesn't look like me etc. I'll just start a new one tommorrow. Learned a hell of a lot though.
@Lilnebo: Yeayea, this time I will keep it updated promise.
@Miles: Yea ur right, thnks.
@TheGnoll: Thanks man.
@Miles: Lol I wouldn't really like to call it my best because it sucks:p.
Ok here is today's portrait. It's like waay better then yesterday's which is not too weird because it completely sucks. I'd love to get it down but it'll be fun goin through this book at a later stage.
THe portrait took way longer then planned like 3 hours but in the end it did started looking like me. So yea I'm satisfied.
I guess my problem in my earlier paintings was that i never really painted from life or used ref. I bassicly made my stuff up. I did do a lot of anatomy studies so the form wasn't to bad but the way I rendered wasn't quite realistic. I hope to change that by doing a lot of these portraits or just drawings from reall life.
Nice improvement over the first self portrait dude. Like the way you handled the dual lightsources and the values. When you get time, do another and really tighten up the edges and the blending, see what you can make. Also, colour dude! colour
Here a new one. Still WIP. It's taking me ages but drawing in colour is just really fucking hard. I learned its often optical illusion that when something looks blue it is actually a pink really saturated. This is a lot of fun. Will finish this one tommorrow and start something new. Now I'm of to bed its midnight.
EDIT: Ow ofcourse im reffing this from a photograph from holiday.
@Miles: Thnk u
Ok I cleaned up yesterday's wip and did some smoothing and correctioning. This one is pretty close to looking like me. Also was the first pic i did painting in color for a long time. I learned so much about color with this one. Now homework is screaming for my attention blah. It's not really finished yet. But I currently don't have time to finish it and i'll just start another after ive got my homework down.
O_o Awesome start for a sketchbook. Nice to see you doing studies. Just...too bad you didn't paint the hand in the last self portrait. Head and hands the two things you really have to practice (not just you but everyone). Leaving out or hiding the hands is a bad habit (I do it myself). Anyway, looking forward to next update.
Wow great great start. Stop playing video games and post more artwork so I can see it!
@Miles: K duud.
@zelda_geek: Heh yea you might be right, but i felt like i spend to long on it and learned enough but it sure wouldn't have harmed to just paint as well. lazy me eh.
@alleluia: Heh yea. that is the whole point of this new sketchbook. I allready deleted all my vid games and am drawing quit a lot.
@ChuanMing: yea lol nr 3 this time ill make it to page 100 no worries
Ok anyways. Today kinda sucked my last hour was physical education and bassicly a guy on my team while playing football decided to try and score from the other side of the field but unfortunately the ball never crossed the mid-line but instead ended up smacking me down to the ground. I must say that wasnt a very pleasant feeling. Anyhoot I'm left with a small concussion and had to spend my afternoon without any homework on the couch instead of drawing. With some aspirin i did manage to get down some leg studies and I'm now gonna try to do something else, but when my head keeps buzzing again i gotta lie down. I hope its a lil better tommorrow.
Anyway here are my leg studies. Just because I really fucking suck at legs and yesterday night i have been doing thousands of sketches to get a slight improvement in my knowledge about legs. Tested it out with a few rendered legs. Enjoy.
ps: don't be to critizing because my head was really hurting and its not something which is really helpfull in the process of painting. cheers

Ok I painted for 45 more minutes just sketched this dude. it's reffed. Just anatomy render practise. And no the white won't stay but its just still early wip and only sketch. No rendering yet whatsoever. Gonna finish it tommorrow. now my headache is killing me and I'm off. Night.
kool stuff. keep posting
@Dile_: Thanks for bumping man. Cheers.
Ok today was a tough day at school was at school till 4 then had to chill with my concussion. etc etc. Anyway was pretty busy but did find some time to work on my anatomy render thingy study. Hope you enjoy. Will finish tommorrow hopefully another pic as well. For now enjoy. AND yes a lot is really wip.
keep it up, that self portrait was awesome, but keep at it!,, you look young, are you out of high school?
whoa you've got something going on here All these studies are really working out well for you, looking at these reminds me that i'm really not doing enough hah. Looked at your previous skechbooks too, pretty impressive, I've gotta watch out for you in the near future.
