    Sprite Animation Weekly #7 - Kaboom~

Rest your quads, it's Monday again. It's only been a few weeks since we did the last effects theme (dust), but since they're helpful towards future animations, I'm putting up another.

    Week 7 - Kaboom~
The challenge this week is all about explosions, pops, fires, and damage. Like the dust challenge, you're free to handle this how you wish, as long as the sprite is composed entirely of some sort of explosive effect. It doesn't have to be fiery or fancy, it can simply be the pop of a bullet exploding.. or it can be as crazy and complex as an atomic bomb.

    Example borrowed from "http://www.metalslugsprites.net":

Example of Street Fighter 3 borrowed from "www.zweifuss.com":
    Sprite Animation Weekly #7 - Kaboom~

    Experiment yourself.

    Have fun.

god; I wish I could find time to do one of these and be satisfied with it, but school just started. I may join in again when things have gotten into a rhythm and I know my schedule, but no promises in any which way.

    nice!!! I love such effects
(well, the firework effect is the simplest, it isn't random, just some maths, a few rows programming, I did it in BASIC 17 years ago... oh, sorry)

I hope I will have time for it. animation require much time from me, I'm not used to it, but we'll see. some explosion with thick gray smoke would be nice, that's one of my favourite effect, but it's a bit difficult for me, I fear...

I did it! the weather was horrible and I did nothing all day, my Flash crashed (I just played with my explosion and I didn't save it, but I did it better again ) and I'm slow with animation... but I was motivated and though my effect isn't a nice colorful fancy thing, it's converted flash again, not a real pixel painting and with some background color it's not very spectacular, but still, I'm a bit pleased

Yeah, same deal here. Hopefully things will settle soon and I'll be able to participate again.

Do like the ones posted so far by Bleupencil and Shinin, but they're mostly smoky... how about a lil' fire in there?

I did try to do some fire in the first one, but it looked really lame, so just went with smoke instead

I wanted to do a bunch this week, but I couldn't get around to it. Maybe I'll throw more in here at a later date. Oh well, here's one:

    Sprite Animation Weekly #7 - Kaboom~

I was experimenting with doing something more geometrical at first.

yeah, it would be far better with fire, I did some research and had an idea, but... I wanted smoke, it was clear. and in the end I spent too much time with the smoke alone, it was midnight... I am slow drawing multiple frames for an animation is a bit frightening for me, one single frame can be tough enough... I hope I'll used to it soon

Wow great job guys! I agree with shiNiN the variety is great to see I'm in the same boat as Lake and Anid with school and I wasn't able to find the time to do this one I'll definitely put one up at a later date though (still planning on doing the walk cycle and cruisin' ones as well).

Awesome to see you back in the mix, chuck. Nice pop to that explosion. Has an old school sprite-based fps vibe.
