    12" Hot Toys figures

    Hot Toys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Toys)

thou they are not my collection (yet ) i just want to share my utmost admiration for the Hong Kong based toy maker's effort and dedication in outdoing themselves in their recent release of 12" (1/6 scale) figures of iron man (mark 3 and 2) and also joker (bank heist version)!
p.s. no, i'm their marketing manager hahaha

Real nice work...couple of their toys look pretty good. Saw the Davey Jones last night in person...was kinda rough.

    This Iron Man looks dope.

just a note on the appleseed 12" figures (this applies to other releases like Takara Tomy), due to the nature of the material, the armour suit might sometimes stick to each other in places where there are bent joints (e.g. bent arms, bent legs) so be careful, as i didnt collect them i wouldnt know the exact detail, but there were other discussion board on applying another coating of some protective spray that is inert to the polyurethane material for the armour to prevent this from happening.

the Hot Toys 1/20 appleseed figures which i plan to get my hands on in a few months time, should not have this problem as its PVC based. cheers

hahaha yah, they have some aliens figures, just make sure you've done your research, but was told that the actual figures looks better than the photos show on the official webpage. i guess that applies to the new alien dog from aliens3, the rest i'm not really that impressed as they were at par with takara tommy (edit) or medicom's RAH (Real Action Heros), but the latest joker sculpt shows me that they are all heart too when it comes to market feedback and constant improvements!

    haha!
im interested in 12"ers a bit... what are the price range usually for a piece, like the bank heist joker?
    are they usually limited editions??

    I'd love a 12" figure of Steve..

anybody know if something like that exists??

depends on the make and also complexity, accessories etc. meaning depends on that particular release really, the ranges are usually from USD 7X to USD1XX to 3XX and higher. From where i'm, HotToy's seems to be lowest price, but refer to the official website for details, plus shipping cost etc. they are limited in the sense that most part involves hand work (painting, tailoring the suits etc) but its usually in the region of thousands, the more costly ones are usually less in production numbers due to labour intensive works involves.

as for 12" steve... you might have to custom build one yourself... but judging from the body hair... hmmm... it'll be pretty labour intensive hahahaha

official 12" ironman mark I from hot toys, the problem with hot toys (its a problem unless you dont mind parting with USD3XX soon) is the photo released on their official page is "what you see is what you get" if not better due to last minute changes or modification, either from market feedback or newly acquired copyrighted reference materials. unlike some other brands that would release a much more better painted official photos and a let down in the mass production end products.
... seems like there's a possibility for iron monger... somewhere in the near future hahahaha

    Yeah.

    h o l y s h i t.

... As impressed as I am, I don't think they captured the face quite right. The forward pointing teeth look a bit off and the face seems to lack the femine quality that it had in the movie... The Pouty alien lips.

Wow, incredible details in those toy models. Ive never kept tabs on that industry so I never knew how accurate they could get.
I hate to ask, but about how much do those toys go for? The Ironman toy is amazing.

The dark Knight is my favourate. Do you think Hot Toys are better than Medicom's RAH? and what about the DC 12"?

    http://blog.naver.com/tiger231.do
Yulli is the sculpting lead for Hot Toys

difficult to compare, its a matter of personal taste, the line is fine and differ from series or line to line for hot toys and medicon, but DC 12"... a big hmmmm

The joker is just a stupidly detailed piece. it's great! Not sure about those aliens tho the legs look a bit weird at the joints.

Here's an interesting blog run by Hot Toys skulpter Joseph Tsang. It has a ton of great production stills.
