Lightbox Help: PROBLEM RESOLVED, THANKS EVERYONE.

Many portfolio/gallery sites use Lightbox to display work...so this might be a good place to ask.

I just integrated lightbox 2 on my website, and am experiencing some problems.

    1. The loading gif does not load, and neither does the close icon. Ive tried everything from changing file paths, moving files around, etc. Nothing has worked. (The original download didnt work either.)

Has anyone else had this problem before? Does anyone know what Im doing wrong?

    2. The art loads at a glacial rate, even when it's just a 150kb gif file. I cant make things smaller without substantial loss in color quality.
Is there anyway to make it load faster?

    Any and all suggestions appreciated

    Thank you for your time.

It's hard to say what can be done unless you tell us exactly how you coded your web page and your arrangements of the file. I think you need to edit some of the Lightbox files, and change the paths to match your file names and location. Use the Wordpad to open and edit them.
I had lot of problems with mine, and I had to play around with it till I got it working.

    1. Randomly moving files around doesn't work often. Look up the documentation and try asking for help in their forums (or mailing list).

    2. You could try using .png files, depending on what type of image it is you could save some extra space.

You need to change the path to the image in your lightbox.css file. Chances are you have the images in a place where the CSS can't find them. I know you said you've moved files around just trying things, but this is most often the problem. Make sure all of your paths to the scripts are loading correctly as well in the head.

If you aren't doing it already, use Save for Web and save as a medium qualtiy .jpeg. I make pretty image intensive sites, so there is a way to get you file sizes more manageable.

Is there anyway to reload the javascript ?

Becasue the way Ive set it up now... there's no way it couldnt work.

    fileLoadingImage: 'loading.gif',
    fileBottomNavCloseImage: 'closelabel.gif',

The images are in the same folder as the Javascript file.

    But it still dosent work

So maybe the browser is used a cached script?

Don’t talk to me about JavaScript. I can’t get it validated under strict and see hours of googling ahead. Bog!

You know what the problem was?

I put in an extra period...

    I put in ...\ instead of ..\
