    New CA TOYS Forum

I saw it last night, but I figured davi would have made a post about it by now... I have so many questions!

I'm a total toy junkie (and now I'm going to have to put them all out again to add to Manley's thread) but would have no clue as to how to get one made, or the sculpt process that goes into joints and such. I'd love to see a progression thread of someone doing those things. Are mods and repaints (a la the designer toys) something to be included in that forum? Why isn't it a sub-forum of 3D? Why is there no sequential forum yet...?

Somebody post in there, I want to see some TOYS!

    Seconded!
Just think of what'll become of this thread...maybe even a little walkthrough on how a toy's handcrafted?

Okay, so don't scream if I say Da, but there was actually a decent beginner tutorial on plush toy making there recently. I could look it up. Oh, and there's an even better toy plush designer somewhere on this site. Who's sketchbook is it again??? I forget her name atm.

Plushies are good...but I guess I was thinking more the process to getting vinyls (or resins?) made. Or hell, I know we have casting tuts for sculpture, but howabout casting for action figures...it's the little joints that baffle me.

Oh man...i still buy the toys. I've always been a huge collector and admirer of a well designed well executed toy. I recently went to Toy-R-us with my kids and as I was looking at the cool figures my daughter tells me "Dad, you're not supposed to like toys when you grow up." I quickly corrected her and told her that it is just a way that Daddy keeps his inner child alive. Imagination is sparked from all sorts of things and I've always wanted to design my own toys.
Believe me, when the new art room gets put together...there will be toys everywhere!!

I don't have the cash anymore to get into toys like I used to, BUT...

When I get a path cleared to the area where they are, I'l show you some toys my dad played with when he was two years old, some of my old stuff, and I even share a doll collection with my wife so that'll go up, too...

Thank you for the new section, Jason. I knew there was hope for you...

I just posted in the new forum!

I'm so pumped that there's a Toy forum now. It makes me feel slightly less lame for just making toys all the time.

Wouldn't it just be easier to put a link to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History? Or are your toys older than their displays?

Toys are awesome. I graduated with an Industrial Design degree so I have a particular affection for them. Also, being a child of the 80s, I have a lot of nostalgia for a lot of different toylines (Transformers, Heman, Gijoe, etc).

To say I have a lot of toys would be an understatement...and I have no problems with that
