    NFect; working on it.

I don't really know what to say but I'm going to use this to put any art I do in it, including practices and studies.
I've been doing a lot of random drawings ever since I can remember, and of course as a kid always used to say that I was gonna be an ARTEEEESTTA YEEAHH! For some reason it didn't enter my mind to study things, so a lot of stuff came from my head. Before I dropped out of highschool, I did two portraits for my schoolmates and the first was alright I guess, but the second came out a lot better.
Put an attachment of a webcam picture of the second portait here.
I don't have a scanner so unless I scan at a friend's house or something (rare occasion), all my things will be digital art.
Critique welcome (even though I've never been too good at accepting it, but I'm working on that, too)!

I always thought anime/manga was a bastardization of art...
    but I don't know anything.

    WIP: I work oddly.
Maybe I should try going for speed for a while?

Started sketching the background on the last one. I'll either work on it more when I get up and I'm completely sober or drop it.

    #1 ... ): WIP-nezsz.
#2 Clearly need to take away the +add layer.
    #3 1-point perspective
    #4 2-point perspective
Need to work on a 3-point perspective practice. Was following along with Form's classes until I realized I'd be no where near as good as the results of the weeks after, so I need to work on lots of other stuff before I move on to there.

I see now how I went wrong on the left boxes on the 2-point perspective sketch.

Your first post looks promising but then it kinda went downhill with the girl in #4. You did that without reference I guess. I think you should stick to drawing from references, life ones if possible.
Anime/manga isn't bad but you need to be able to draw the real deal before you can abstract and deform it.
I think picking up perspective exercises was a good idea! Keep it up!

My sketchbook contains cartoon studies and Pokémon.

hey man great start, the most recent study shows a lot of improvement, definitely do more of those, try pushing the values further by emphasising the shadow accent contours (the line where light meets shadow) it will make the forms pop

also, watch out for your line quality, try not to go over your lines, its a simple mistake but one thats hard to fix...try exercises where you draw with one line or with a pen in real life and try using less lines as possible (longer strokes) you'll see improvement very fast.

    Keep working at it!

@paperx; Thanks a bunch, I've been thinking about it 'cause I've never been too good at clean lines without going back and erasing, that'll help me an assload! I've just been putting it off - so many things I need to improve on with art.

Erghhh, WHY CAN'T I MAKE UP MY OWN STUFF AND IT LOOK GOOD?

Read in some other post about Andrew Loomis' books being free somewhere online. Gonna check it out.

You need to intimately know existing stuff before you can make up your own.
"Good" can only be found at the end of a long road. Enjoy the odyssey.

I actually found that site through some googling, downloaded the PDFs, etc. etc..
Thanks anyways! It'll definitely help out some other people that didn't already know where to look.

Agh, I am beyond annoyed with myself. Sure, I started dating someone and never parted from them... and am now married... but that doesn't mean I couldn't have done anything productive as I have.
    Fak.
