    Unhappy A 2011 hopeful.

    Hi, there! I'm Melissa

I'm not a 2009 hopeful, (Im just a junior) but even so, I find this forum really helpful.

I'll post up some of my work, so please come by later. (though it might not be for a little while)

My GPA is going back up (ever since I dropped out of IB) but I'm still a little worried.
    Do they look at the sophmore year really harshly? My sophmore year was just barely a 3.0. I know i'll do better next year, but i'm worried about what they'll think about the Sophmore year ;_;

I heard that they mostly look at Junior and Senoir, but i'm not sure ;^; Even though i'm stuck between Ringling and Savannah, I'm leaning towards Ringling- and I really want to get in >_<;; I probably shouldn't be freaking out now, but....

    >.<

OH! BTW, i'm visiting Ringling this Friday! Maybe i'll see someone there?? (That'd be so cool XD )

Thanks, and sorry for the HUGEEE post

Dreamyth, you needn't worry about a 3.0 GPA keeping you from getting accepted, especially if that is your lowest year.
It will need to be somewhere around a 3.5 if you want any shot at a scholarship, though.

Patience is a virtue, but who wants to be virtuous?

Anyone know how long it usually takes to get the bill/finacial paperwork from the school? Just wondering, I just did the FAFSA last week.

Anybody here who's getting a class with Don Brandes is lucky, I've only been in his precollege illustration workshop for 2 weeks and he's an amazing teacher.

*loving his small taste of ringling so far*

Posting this from the CA classroom lol

You need to call up the school and ask to speak with academic advising, or you can email them. Basically you had some transfer credits that counted for courses people take first semester (like writing). I also believe that the first semester for illustration students has the spot for an open elective (some other majors like CA have that opening second semester instead). You'll need to pick additional classes to take that you are eligible for and are not full. 5 classes is usually considered a normal load while 4 is the minimum number of classes you must be taking to be considered a full time student.

Gah--I've been checking this page since the beginning of May to find out about which 8 Ringling films are going to Siggraph this year. Finally came across this page...sorry if this is old news for most of you. Huge congrats to Jin Sop Kum, David Lisbe, Alex Marino and Greg Peltz, Miriam Nagi, Gretchen Glover, Christopher Hendryx, Emily Tse, and Cat Hicks!

Hey guys! Just thought I would post that I am going to be an RA over in Ulla Searing Student Center this fall. I think this is going to be upper classman housing, but nonetheless, I'll see you all at orientation!

@equality: no classes, but we are in 2nd year ill
you have a nice set up too. the thing with casmer's class is that, Casmer teaches first semester, then Mike hodges takes over.
I had don brandes for intro. and having him again for media in the morning this fall. really good teacher.

Um, I'd say be prepared to negotiate and play hardball. And maybe make friends with other people who aren't sharing bathrooms with so many people. The few times I've lived with male roommates (I'm female), the bathroom situation has always been worse than if I lived with women.

If IQ web is putting you with 3 other roommates, chances are you are living in the Bayou Apartments. This means that there are 2 bathrooms in your living space. I don't think, aside from dorms with public restrooms, that you should ever have to share a bathroom with more than one person. That just wouldn't be fair.

In the north hall floor plans there are 2 bedrooms connected to a single bathroom.

Now I'm getting memories of this one day my frosh year in Appleton......

One of the shower stalls. BRIGHT NEON PINK hair dye. EVERYWHERE. Oh dear gawd.

    *eye twitches*

In other news: I have exactly a month left until I fly back to Sarasota/Ringling.

    *pauses for a moment*

WUT? I ONLY HAVE A MONTH? AGHHHHHH!!! *draw draw draw draw practice go go go last month of freedom!*

"Vision? What do you know about my vision? My vision would turn your world upside down, tear asunder your illusions, and send the sanctuary of your own ignorance crashing down around you. Now ask yourself, Are you ready to see that vision?"
