Alleluia: Wow thanks, . I hope I'll be able to keep stuff interesting.

Some quick ballpoint sketches. I'm not very used to doing 'quick' pictures or leaving them unfinished (I'm especially not used to letting other people see them) so I'm trying to get used to it

First off some random character heads:

Now for some torso sketches, done using references of course

I love your style, very clean and confident. You seem to have a very good sense of anatomy, and you do a great job in pushing features. My favorite piece has to be the second portrait down, it's just downright cool. Your shading is awesome too, but might I suggest that you consider pushing your tonal range, it would really make your drawings pop even more. Also it would definitely be cool to see some studies of a live model from you in where you still pushed your style.

I will keep an eye on this thread as well, its pretty rad.

very nice style, but make sure you son't lose the realism to much, that is were things get slippery. Thus far it is looking great, so just keep at it and keep improving

Thanks for your pointers, . I'll keep your tonal idea in mind next time I visit my local art shop; normally I work in a O.3mm HB mechanical pencil but as I've lost that recently I think a visit is in order. I'm actually hoping to enrol for a life drawing class this coming Tuesday which I'm quite looking forward to. This is partly what prompted me to start posting here since I feel I need to improve in the anatomy area, my comfort zone is definitely portraits.

Mischeviouslittleelf :I know what you mean about the realism thing though actually lately I've found myself actually having to do a picture/sketch in a more realistic style even if I want it to be more cartoony, I've also been told I have a habit of exaggerating features and making figures very 'long' which I'm mindful of. My early figures could have been giraffes

Some 20 minute landscapes I've done for practice because I don't do them often enough.

Wow, your pencils are completely awesome! Loving the faces and gestures, a lot of character and life and yeaaaah I'd like to see more

And keep working on the digis, bring in some contrast, sharpness, texture! And maybe try a brush that is a bit harder D:

algenpfleger: Thanks for the tips , admittably not a lot of effort/time was put into the digis .

And here's what happened when a simple attempt at painting digitally without having a done a sketch beforehand spiraled out of control.

    R&F: Thanks, .

Here's some sketches/ideas done for this week's CHOW (decided to give it a go despite the fact that I usualy take more than a week over a pic - probably why I did it actualy.)

The first pic was my initial idea just blocked in colours before I forgot it, but after some thinking it was scrapped.

The next two poor scans were done after some thinking, mental tweaking, and a cup of coffee. There's been only some minor changes between the first and second.
