I just found out I get to go to SF for the wekend in September. When I was there for revelations I wasn't able to attend any museums, so since I only have a few days, I wanted to see what I should make sure I see?
I get there on a Thursday and leave on a Sunday, and I want to make sure I see the best stuff at least. Whats your favorite pieces and where are they?
Legion of Honor is having Female Impressionists and the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibitions. Definitely worth to check those two out.
I really like the De Young Museum. Has a Chihuly exhibition at the moment. Havent been to see that one in particular but I did see the Mayan exhibition just several months back.
There's the Asian Art Museum. Has some really great stuff for reference. Also has an exhibition, I believe some stuff from the Ming Dynasty.
There's also SF MOMA (Museum of Modern Art). Don't know what exhibition they have at the moment.
Hope this helps!
Big ups for the MOMA! That place is just wonderful to walk through, although the art is... modern. There's still a lot to enjoy.
Thanks for the responses guys, I def have LOH on the list. Are there any Sargent's at any of the SF museums?
When I was there in July, the contemporary jewish museum had an exhibition that included concept art from Shrek.
