I just found my very first website still up on netfirms. I would email them to see if I could get someone to take it down, but in doing so I'd have to admit that it was mine.

I've still got a long ways to go. My colors need work. May be getting a tablet soon though (finally!), so I can take old scans of ink drawings and practice on them over and over digitally. That should be excellent training.

If anybody's really interested I might post some truly terrible stuff from my high school years... on second thought, I should probably just delete all evidence of that and pretend it never happened. You know why people here rage about anime sometimes? It's because of stuff like what I drew. :P

Here's one, because I can't leave people hanging after that.

Sometime in 2000, pencil drawing, Soul Calibur much?

Great Thread ! Though I“m not really active I feel like I should post here, ca.org definatly has been a huge influence during my artistic journey Mainly between 2005 -2006.
I remember stumbling over the forums in October 2004 and was completly blown away. Early 2005 I started drawing in a small Sketchbook, but I was always too insecure about my work to post it here ( that did not really change though I once posted in the FF Section and had a short lived sketchthread around 2008 ) . Between then and mid-2006 I filled around 5 Sketchbooks...

So the first one are pre-ca.org drawings from 2003 or so. I was of course not a newbie when I got here first, my progress is not as huge as the others. Pretty new for me was the realistic rendering

I have a larger ( + better quality ) file with more examples from the sketchbooks here :

Well, I haven't exactly been on CA, nor have I really come here for advice (In a way, I'm too ashamed of my stuff to ask for help. Yeah, kooky).

Anyway, I will post stuff from a year ago and now, because that's really when I started to draw and stuff.

I like to think that my drawings have an "intended viewing resolution". Since I originally draw them at a certain length. I absolutely hate my picture when they're full-viewed, and the like. Soooo... I'll be sizing these buggers down, please.

Here's the order - one from about a year ago (well, right at the start of this year), one from six months ago and one from the now.

I like to think that I've gotten better.

Blighted Art I see lots of improvement! You can tell you've got more confident with your colours and lines, and I love the style you're developing! (the alien dude is cute)

Inspiring to see everyone's progress in such a short time, here's my progress since joining CA.

Haha. I saw this a while ago. While I was digging through old folders (clearing space that I didn't really need) I found some REALLY old stuff- from when I was like a sophomore in college, so I'd thought I'd post it. I've since been graduated a year.

    Example

Wasn't going to join in but I found an old drawing of mine from High school pre-conceptart.org. The one thing Conceptart.org gave me more than anything that I'm thankful for is a simple "reality check".

Before CA everyone just said "Oh thats so good", "wish I could draw that well" etc etc.... but never "Oh well thats not bad, but do this to make it better".

    So yeah.
    The before...

Then a little bit after joining CA.

    Then a bit more recent.
(Which is mainly experimenting with digital media and color which I never did before)

After joining I realized I don't want to make art professionally, but still like to draw as a hobby from time to time. Still thankful for finding this place.

    Thumbs up

Sheesh! I didn't even put my progress! I guess because only this year (no wait...last year? Eh.) I really felt like I progressed.

    2004. I thought I was doing well with anthro art! Until I got kicked down a peg from Yerf. ;_;

2007...I think. I came here in 2007, I do believe. I was so scared...and I'm now less scared. XD Back then I had a lot of art, but once 2008 happened, I started doing less and less.

2010. I did something different than what I normally do: I kept trying, and I worked and worked on this picture. It may have a lot of problems still, but it's such a big step and I'd not done that for a couple years before that.

Oh yeah, and I started doing environments! I NEVER do those! XD I'm just learning to do them, too!

Wow, some amazing progress in this thread, it's really inspiring!
Mine not so much. I was lurking here in 2006 on a different account, and now I "joined again" so to speak and made a resolution to be active. I was also pretty scared of the enviornment at the beginning, but I think I started learning.
I really do regret not learning how to manage my time earlier, though. 2006 I was still in highschool, then the rest was straight to uni and I "didnt have time" to keep drawing.
I look forward to another thread like this in 2 years time so I can post a more substantial progress.

Nice progress Nelka. Just comparing the girl sitting in her chair from 2006 to the 2010 one is like night and day in terms of skill differential. Its really inspiring seeing progress like that.

First one is 2007 I believe, second one is current. I'll probably finish it more but I figured it was finished enough to post.

I've obviously progressed a ton and for that I'm grateful, but I honestly wish I had made more progress. I suppose that's just natural but I try not to have any regrets as they've already taken a major toll on my life as it is. I'm excited for what the future holds for me artistically as I feel I'm really getting somewhere digitally. I've become more and more addicted to digital art and I improve with every piece I do.

Jesus Jens, don't take this the wrong way but in 2003 I was 13, and had better pencil drawings then you.
Now it is 2011 and you are a beast, but I still don't get many replies.
It's as if you improved exponentialy like a virus. How is that level of imporvement possible so fast?

Congratulations man, I really love all 3 of the new pieces you posted
