Dude, your sketches are bloody awesome! Love the way you handle lines and as such. Had a great time looking through your work. Do have to say there are some proportionality mistakes in some portraits, but still they're sexy!

Don't bother looking at my sketchbook. I haven't updated that thing in years. :/

Your studies are amazing. I'm going to nitpick at one study in particular about something in the hopes it'll help a little more:

    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...6&d=1326532344

Just below the rock, on your painting it looks like the rock isn't part of the landscape, like it doesn't fit into the rest of the stage. On the reference photo even the white-froth of the waves directly below it are shaded / darker if you look carefully, so it makes the rock formation feel like it's casting a shadow.

You hadn't really included it on your painting so the rock looks like it was sorta stuck onto the top of the image Put the soft shading in there and it'll feel like it's coming out of the water.

    Awesome awesome studies and dedication.

Sharon J : Thank you. I've posted reply on your SB.
    MarcSampson : Thanks man !!
MiladThaha : Thank you. Yea, I am aware of it. I struggle a lot with symmetry and proportion.. but I am slowly dealing with it.
BlightedArt : Thanks for the input, you are absolutely right ! And please do nitpick more... critique the hell out my work !

    An environment study.
Slow deliberate approach using layer, masking and such. Inspired a lot by Hanne's technique.

Very solid collection of studies you've got here, nice work! I'd like to see you give yourself some room and just go nuts on a few pieces, to loosen up.

    Keep at it!

Yes, I can definitely see a Hannes influence in the last one. And you've pulled it off pretty well, too! Props for that.

Also, it's good to see you trying to tackle complicated environments. This will pay off big time later, I assure you. Also, you rendered the 3D gun quite well. The texture, material looks good, authentic.

Overall, very nice works in the sketchbook. There's definite improvement as well.

Hey fenixx! Where are you disappeared? Work harder, challenge yourself!
I like the last enviro, floor and ceilings look like photo realistic, but there are some perspective issues here and there. Maybe checkout this book: Perspective-Made-Easy
Also I must agree to flying dutchman, you must loosen up and don't care if drawing will look good or not, just draw and experiment.
Btw, you promised to make something from your imagination, remember?

The_Flying_Dutchman: Thanks. Yea, I do realized that I need to loosen up... there is some kind of mental block that stops me from just letting go off my fears... MUST. STOP. THINKING TOO MUCH !
Vritra: Thanks man... well I haven't really been slacking off.. you'll see with this updates I hope.
vanaga: Vanaga !! Does this post do, for working from imagination... although I did use lot of reference to create these. Hmm

Anyway. Here is a different sort of update.
Till now, I had to keep working in secret. But now I can reveal that me and 2 of my friends we working on a personal project.
We all discussed a concept, revolving around the usual post-apocalyptic genre. We are not trying to be original or anything, but just putting ourselves through the task of creating work as if we are in a studio.
I am doing the concept art of course. Here is the work that I did. To check out the work of my other teammates.. you can check out our facebook page

The last environment sketch was used as a reference for creating a small level in CryEngine 3 by my friend. Check it out. I think it turned out pretty awesome !

Here is another update from the project.
A storyboard for the opening sequence. Used CryEngine block-in as a base for the environment.

The portrait of Thom Yorke is very, very nice indeed. Also, the level that your friend created is breathtaking.

The storyboard is great, I especially like the first two panels. The next three, however, feels a bit too zoomed out to me. To better convey the sense of claustrophobia, or the feeling of waking up (with a nightmarish quality attached to it), I think an even more zoomed in shot might have worked better. Right now, it's not effectively serving a purpose.

This is not to say that I didn't like the storyboard. I think it works very well, short but effective. Keep up the good work.

It's so cool to see that you are still working hard (unlike me)
I have only some small crits on the panels:

But otherwise everything else is very very well done, especially because it's the imagination stuff, I'm so amazed and proud with you

    @Immortal Cintiq : Thank you
@Vritra : "The next three, however, feels a bit too zoomed out to me." Yea, I get you mean. But I guess I wanted to show his face as he gets up and his expression. But thanks for the critique. I feel this needs a lot more work, but best I move one and try more like these.
@vanaga : Well, I haven't been working hard lately :| But oh well I am back now. And yea, thanks for the crit, very helpful. Yay for imagination stuff.

    So yea. Big gap.
Went on a much needed vacation. Malaysia !
    Was fun.
    But back to work now.

Nice sketchbook! The Thom Yorke one really caught my eye. One thing I might offer is that it seems like the brows on your female faces are a bit too prominent, and the eyes are spaced perhaps just a tad too far apart. Your improvement's inspiring!
