    Hey fenixx!
    How is it going?
I really like your anatomy studies, they have some kind of energy
The portraits keep getting better and better. Only suggestion - keep doing what you're doing, it works

Sharon : Glad to hear that the video was of some use. and yes, I am Gautham's batchmate. Thanks for dropping by.
Sin Eater : Thank you Even if you think I know whats wrong in my drawings, I would still like you to point them out. Because many times, you dont know what you dont know. So go ahead, critique the hell out of my sketches
Vanaga : Hello ! Its good. Been slacking off a bit. About the energy in my studies.. I kinda like staying loose, which is also something I dont like, because what i get in the energy i loose in accuracy. Sometimes studies need to be more about getting things right more than the aesthetics... right ?

Anyway... here are some very poor gesture drawings. And no they are not quick ones either.. i took my sweet time and still did not get any better. This is done in PS, with a nice pencil brush i found here. Check it out, adds some sort of dynamism to your sketches.

Also, I got James Gurney's Imaginative Realism. Amazing book. Highly recommended. I realize that I need to know so so so so much about painting I ordered Color and Light as well, will take a couple of days more for it though.

gestures are looking good. especially the guy on the sofa and the girl on left top. the left side one is looking weird.her hand is twisting in a weird way there. others are looking good. i am not sure about the second girl drwaing though. too many lines at the bg is a bit distracting.

the environment study is looking great. very subtle feeling i like the mood. do more

I looked through your sketchbook and it's obvious that you have seriously improved since you first post here. It's always nice to see a work that pays off at certain moment. Keep it up!

Sin Eater : Thanks for the input... the second drawing was really me getting out the frustration of the previous gesture drawings. Actually wanted to test out rendering in just two values... but was too hard.
    Twell & shashankk : Thanks dudes !!!

Made a sketch. Thought I shall post it for the sake of being regular on updates
!@#!@ I realized it looks totally screwed up when i flip the image in PS. Oh well, lesson learnt.

    you're welcome!

I pretty much like your zbrush stuff and studies in pencil, portraits may have some issues though: try to check the positioning of facial features and all the measurments more often as well as basic proportions of the face.

Fenixx, cool enviro study, pretty precise colors, but don't get carried away with the details, they will just take away your time. Have you tried small enviro thumbnails? Work zoomed out, block in the colors as much as you can with big brush, and only then start to work on medium details (leave small details for finished pieces)
I'm the fan of your portraits. You inspired me today to work on my crappy portraiting skill.

Adelenta, Tomskie, Leo, Sineater : Thanks a lot guys !!

Smuli : Thank you. Glad to hear the video helped.

Vanaga : Yea, about the environment... I did initially start with that in mind. It was pretty frustrating to get it too look right, and then i ended up going more detailed. Although I did start off small and with a big brush. Thanks for the input, I have a long way to go with portraits myself !!

Twell : Thanks. I am constantly try to figure out how to deal with proportions without loosing the spontaneity of the sketch!!

Sad that i haven't updated for a week. Need to work harder and be consistent. I realize that i never keep my momentum going for longer than a week or 2. Must.... work... harder !!!! Anyway, here are some crappy studies. Thought I should study the scapula muscles leading to some upper arm studies.

Also I thought I should start doing some quick sketches in PS. Its only when you do those you realize how much you really suck. The other paintings gave me lot of time to fix my mistakes. Need to get better at the sketch stage itself. Each sketch is done in 10 mins.

hey fenixx - you really concentrate on your studies, that is nice.
if only i had that patience...
But for your portraits, maybe you should try to draw some old/ugly/fat ladies
to get some diversity and to improve your skills on faces and bodies in general.
life isn't filled with beauties you know keep it up!

    Upper Arm Anatomy !

Mörtn : Patience is not really one of my key traits, but thanks anyway About getting more variety in the portraits. I totally agree, but I think I shall stick with good looking people for a little while longer because i still have to get my proportions and forms right, which would be easier with 'beautiful' people.

    julianR : Thank you

Been working on upper arm anatomy. Very interesting.
    Following a basic approach.

Study the muscle; insertion and origin and where it fits.
Look at the photographs and solve.
    Do a rendered version.

Hello there i like the fact that you study a lot be sure to watch out for symmetry on portraits and proportions, I noticed some minor things that you might want to keep in mind in the future. The last portrait looks good the ones above have this symmetry problems that i told you so make sure you keep an eye for that in the future

Good luck and keep it up

shambok & Leo_7 : Thank you so much guys.
m0uS3r : Yea. Symmetry is one of my biggest flaws in drawing along with line quality and proportions. (Sadly the important aspects of drawing). Trying to work on it. Thanks for the input !

So I went outside in the weekend to meet up with a sketchgroup. Was nice. Realized how hard it is to sketch from real life. And sketching trees and foliage is so tough

If anyone can help me with getting started on traditional painting, I would be really grateful.
I really want to get into it and start learning oils and such.
