Hello every body ,I am posting a new wax work in DOKRA process an Indian traditional way of metal casting . the work deals with the four stages of life of Lord Buddha the title of the work is Enlightened one . I have made the portrait of Buddha and depicted the story of his life in four divisions because the face is the index of mind .
This sounds exiting. I hope you plan to post lots and lots off detail around the prosess You indian (is that the right word?) have your own special sense of detail.

Hi here is the step to make Dokra casting .
step one is to crush the brick and convert it into fine powder .
step two is to add wheat husk in proportion of one is to two with brick powder .
step three is to mix the wheat husk and brick powder in water almost in clay format .
forth step use the material in the form you want to create the sculpture and dry it in shade preparation of wax
then a mixture with wax, oil and Dhuna( a type of resin) is made to make the carving work on the product you prepare. It looks black and is very soft. With this mixture designs on the base clay mould is made.
then make a coil of prepared wax like noodles and start creating designs on the clay model
Now the entire thing is kept in a pot filled with brass. Then it is put in furnace at a high temperature in order to facilitate the molten brass in the mould having a small hole to take the desired shape.
Finally remove the clay and polished .this is an example which was done by an dokra artist
