Hey everybody, my name's Eric and I"m a soon to be sophomore at Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD). I'm majoring in Illustration. I have decided that I want to go into concept art for video games and movies and I would really appreciate it if you guys would give me critiques and comments as you always have, so I can improve and achieve my dream in the not too distant future. I'll be posting more digital pieces this time around, but of course there'll still be traditional pieces as well as my school work from this upcoming year.
To start off, here is a self portrait I did earlier today.

Welcome to CA! You're doing a pretty darn good job! I'm impressed with the painting. There's only one thing I saw on it (And I doubt I should even be treading on this, since I know little about color and digital painting myself... ) but the lighting on the nose looks just a tad weird to me. It just appears to be lines rather than lighting...It could just be me though.
But hey! Keep it up! Would love to see some more. Do you paint traditionally too?
"Looking for critiques! Any help is appreciated."
Loled at the welcome to ca
Stop it with all the new sketchbooks, your last one was kickass why'd you change?

SkyTheArtist- Thx for the welcome, but I've been here for a while. Yeah, the nose was a hassle for me, I'm sure I'll improve as long as I keep practicing. I do paint traditionally, I'll post some when I get the chance to.
lilnebo- Yeah, it surprised me as well. I don't know why I keep making new sketchbooks, maybe I'm obsessed with having a fresh start. I will try to update this one daily, I've finally got the drive to push myself harder and draw everyday like I used to. Thank you for the kind words, your doing good yourself.
Here are a couple of photo studies from tonight. enjoy!
hellll yeahhh man! you're definitely gettin better. the pencil work on that lizard thing is badass. really good, and your studies are definitely improving. a lot more foundation work than before, good good.
see ya in a week or twooooooo
Awesome really great to see these!
Your getting better and better
The digital studies are looking awesome and your achiving a great likeness
And the last drawing is sweet
i really like your use of lightining in it
All this wants to make me paint digitally
Some pencils please !!
Keep it up
lilnebo- Thanks for the boost of confidence! Pencils will be coming soon.
I'm sorry guys, no updates today, too busy helping a friend move in to draw any. I know, I feel bad that I haven't kept my word by not updating everyday. More to come soon.
Hey dude what's up!
Great book you have here! Loving all the pencil sketches, your designs are awesome!
Your didi paintings are great too, you do a lot of things the right way, you don't start on a white background, your brushwork seems solid, and the values are good too. However, try thinking about the shadows more, you mostly shade them with a single color which makes them seem a bit muddy. Try throwing more life in there! Some purples, blues, greens, oranges! Think of cool-warm contrasts too. If you're looking for the most awesome tutorials on skintones and facial features, you should out Linda Bergkvist's stuff -> http://www.furiae.com/index.php
Keep it up
rly like you're portraits and life drawing dude keep it up!
SKETCHBOOK!! -> http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=132959
In the environment you're about to enter to you'll be great in no time at all, especially like the lighting on the troll/ogre/hulk, gives it an environment without there actually being one, nice touch. Keep posting =)
Woo man these digis they are soooooo freakin awesome
The pencils, they just kick my ass so hard its hard to sit down....
And the life drawings are pure awesome really just wordless
Do you use photoshop? looks like painter to me
Anywayz keep it up and keep updating
lilnebo- Wow, thx for the props. Those were done in photoshop, I have painter, but I haven't gotten into it yet, but I can't wait to start soon.
Well, I've been sick all day, so no updates tonight. I'm going to post a lot this weekend. I'm checking out some anatomy books tomorrow from the library, and I'm going to study my ass off and do lots of figure and anatomy studies. Also, this will be the last sketchbook I start here, because I want to keep in touch with everyone that comes through my sketchbook here, and it's hard to do that when I keep starting new sketchbooks. Hopefully it will be a journey worth while as I learn and grow and hope that everyone that comes through here will help me to do so, and I'll be sure to do the same for all you guys and gals out in CA. Alright, I'm posting tomorrow for sure. Thx everyone.
P.S.- If I don't post anything every now and then, I want you guys to beat my ass down with replies and shit for not posting anything. Thx again.

RandAlThor- Thx, I hope I'll be pro one day. I got that ref from deviantart.com. You can find all sorts of cool images there.
Alright, well, I'm still sick today, but I still managed to find some time to paint. So here's these, I probably post one more time tonight. Studying anatomy is a lot of fun, I'm really getting into it, although its very tedious work.
lilnebo- Thanks again. I will. You better keep up the hard work as well!
Heres something I've been working on for the last 20 mins. I hope I will become faster as I practice.
