    Angry Bleh...

Hey guys.. Um.. i haven't been posting much. I haven't been drawing much either.. I got robbed a few weeks ago. They got about $1k worth of stuff.

I was getting ready for work and went downstairs to warm up my car. I put my backpack in the car and started it up. Went upstairs to get into my uniform. 15 minutes later, I come back to the car. I noticed that my backpack was not there. I figured that I might've put it in the trunk, like i sometimes do. Well when I got to work, I couldn't find my backpack. I went back home to see if I even took it with me downstairs. Its not at home. So some punkass took it out of my car.

Along with it are my drawing journals and wacom tablet. They got my clearwire modem, drawing pencils, phone charger, wireless mouse, Left 4 Dead video game, mirror and a bunk of other things that I use to pass time by.

Anyways, I just dont feel like doing anything creative at the moment. I want to find the mother fucker and break a bone for every day that I was without my things... Anyways.. yeah i dont think I will be updating much. I have to save up money to buy drawing pencils and such again... but right now, my money is going towards my family... So yeah.. I will post when I have the money to post...

.... So cruel to hear that. (shivers)
Idiots who steal don't have a clue, regrettably. But, if you find the fucker, may you find peace and his teeth concrete. In the mean time: cheer up, even printing paper and an HB will get your thoughts/practice out.

I'd love to see you have a character or 2 in this style with a full background.

cheers - chin up and all the best

DStrax - Hmm... that's a good idea! I will do something with color on my next post. The only color pencils I have are from a generic brand. So, we'll see how that goes. Sadly, its definitely not a Prismacolor.

    5/03/09 Drawings

Bleh.. I really tried to do some coloring last night. But, the color pencils that I was using really really sucked. I don't want to post it, until I get some better color pencils. I hated it so much, afterward...

Anyways, here is what I did yesterday. The first one is a picture from a Korean Magazine, and the baby is my lil baby.

some great improvement happening in here, good work!
I think what you need to do more is drawing from life and from reference. You tightened your portraits you drew up pretty nicely, but they all still have that generic, comic-like look. Lifedrawing will help you to see how the features are placed in the face and it will help you to see how light behaves on different planes of the face. Just dig deeper into what there is to discover in the things you draw. you've done the right steps now it's time to level up

SaiVix, thanks for dropping by my world, just thought I'd drop in and see whats going on over here. Looking good, I'd say a great improvement from the beginning. You're learning to work with light really well. I'd agree with Gloominati and set yourself back up with reference drawing and studying anatomy; we can all benefit from that. Dueces bro!
PS, show us some more color! It can be fun.

    Great stuff here!
I love all the portrait and face studies.
You have a nice, smooth style towards everything.
Definitely work on anatomy a bit more .. and I think you need a little more value in your shading, everything seems a little flat. Try doing with really dark dark's and really light light's .. If that makes sense?
    Anyhow, great stuff!
    Keep it goin'

Crap forgot my thank you notes!

Grafguy - Thanks for the advice. I will do more angles. I just dont feel like I got the frontal down packed yet. Everytime I wanna do a different angle, I end up hating it

Lyno - Thanks man!! I love faces. If anything, I would like to be a portrait artist.

Gloominati - I totally agree with everything you said. All the drawings that I make up are all too cartoonish for my taste. But, no matter how I try to fix it, it happens. I will try more reference drawings though. I am really worried about copyright infringements though. That is my biggest drawback in referencing.

warlock1234 - Yah man. Gloom's message was the bombshizzle. heheh. As for color. I just bought myself a set of Prismacolor. But, I haven't done anything with them yet. I'm sure there will some color pics on my next posting.

Zenobia - Hey! Yeah. I totally agree about the anatomy studies. I will put more of my time into that than I already am. I just got a hold of one of Andy Loomis's book. Although I have many digital copies of them, I can't really bring those anywhere. So, with this hardcopy, I think I will be showing a bit more improvements. As for the tones, I press really hard to get the darkest color in my drawings. I don't know what it is, but the scanned pix really does not do my drawings justice, in this department.

pradip ingale - That is one of the best advices ever! thanks man.

Hey, went through your sketchbook real quick and I'm impressed how much you improved in such a short time, don't give up the spirit now and keep on it!

It's good that you are using the pencil as a tool since it obviously suits you better. However I would like to say, unlike someone else posted here, that a biro is not necessarily more limited in its use. I believe it's more who is using it in what way. Compare my pencil with my biro drawings and you will agree that the biro is my tool. I make a huge mess with a pencil and can't seem to get enough contrast. My point here is that you might want to pick up the biro again one day, just to see what it gives.

Another tip is that you might want to try a larger format. I haven't seen this tip here yet since the short time I'm here, but I know it helps a hell lot for me. Reason being is that you need to use your entire arm to draw a line. In that way these lines over lines over lines etc. won't turn up on your page so easily.

I also read somewhere that you like to draw girls that are well formed. You can't believe how happy I am to hear that. I just love those nice curves, makes it so sexy! Drawing teachers told me that my style is similar to the style of "Robert Crumb". He also likes the curvy woman. I have to say that I am not a huge fan of his use of lines, but the final drawings are pretty odd..

    Sketchbook

    Some advice would be nice

Don't take my advice too seriously, I'm just a newbie

You are coming along nicely, Draco makes a lot of sense in his post take heed to it. Your last couple of posts seem kind of lifeless, were they drawn from a picture? Try and practice your observational skills more and draw from life.

Thanks for dropping by my sb. Much appreciated To answer the question abt changing ur thread title, just click on edit for ur first post, then "Go Advanced" button. Then u can change the title of the post which is also the title of the thread

Great improvement btw. Ur figure tend towards stylization. Not sure if thats what u want but i feel it is better to get the normal proportion right in the early learning phase then push it for creative result when u want to in the future. Life drawing, studying from anatomy books, drawing figure from life (cafes drawing) are great means to improve ur figure proportion skills. Keep it up dude !

    Hi there!

I was reading your December post... Argh. I would die if I was robbed like that. I can't believe they took your journals too! I think I have this idiotic "good thief" image in my head that does not consist with reality at all.

Your icon is imprinted in my memory but I don't recall if I saw your sketchbook yet.

This is beautiful soft rendering. The pearls look like pearls and the satin looks like satin.

I have no advice to add from what others said. I'm also very tempted to make a drawing look good and to forget that all that I have to learn so I understand things, is more important right now. That baby drawing is lovely, but don't just make a finished picture of him, "dissect" what you see. Try to see the baby's head anatomy, the perspective of the box where his head is at, the volumes and planes, etc.

    Moar!!

    Draco Dralion

    1. I do want to get back into using the Biros. I am just at the moment in my life where I am reformatting my way of drawing. I wanted to start of from scratch. After I feel that I accomplish my goal in Pencils, I will start using the Biro again. I can't wait though! I have all these new ideas for it too. I wrote it down just in case I forget.

    2. I totally agree with you about drawing on larger paper. I just recently bought a Bristol Board book. Its like 14" x 17". I will draw on that, after I finish with a drawing that I am currently in. This is also part of my renewed studies that I am forcing myself to do. I had it planned out. Good catch though. I think only 1 other person suggested this to me.

    3. Heheheh I love girls. They way they look. The way they act. The way they smell. They way they feel... They are truly the most beautiful of all the animals on this world. Most of my inspiration comes from the females that I know and love.

    Eugie

Yah. The picture of my lil baby and "Girl in Pearls" were referenced from pictures. It took me a long time to figure out what you meant by "lifeless". I was thinking, "Man... I really thought they look life like." But, I think you mean that they are just "there" rather than "being there". I agree with you (if that's what you mean). I will try to incorporate more dynamics in my future posts.

    Mydrako

Bleh.. Yeah my figures do have a stylization to them. I was trying to do them from my head, rather than from observation. I have been trying to get time to draw people, while im out. But, it seems like everytime I'm out, my baby wants me to play with him or fetch him the toys, food, utensils, attentions that he throws on the ground. I never have time to myself, when I go out. When I do have time, I promise that I will draw from the people around me. Even if they are only there for 30seconds.

    Leonor

    1. yah... I look forward to the day that I meet the Thief.... Oh how I look forward to it. I have been refining my Tai Chi for that very occasion. ....

    2. I use my icon in all of my internet blogs; Here, Deviantart, Steam, Aim, Yahoo, Gmail, Hentai BBS, YouTube, and other various internet sites. Maybe you have seen my comments on those pages.

    3. Yah.. I loved that picture of the "Girl in Pearls". I was hoping people would comment more on that picture. But, alas, they did not. I was so proud of doing that too. It took a whole lot of concentration and planning to get that drawing out. I am so glad that you like it!!!

    4. Thanks for your advices. I will absorb your words and HadouKen it onto all my future drawings.

    lambd4

yay!!! I am so glad that you like it!!

And without further ado. Here are some things that I have been working on.

    1. No Reference Heads
    2. I tried to draw Sephiroth as a human. My GF really wants a 3-some with him
    3. This will be my last update to the Khavi pic. I want to frame this and give it to the Baby Mamma. She says its perfect already. I just darkened the darks. Thanks for all the suggestions though! They really helped me think outside the box that I am trying to get out of. All of the suggestions will help me further my skills on future pics.
    4. I have been asked to do a color pic. This will be my attempt at it. The first pic is a Sketch of a referenced pic from the Summer's Victoria's Secret Magazine. The second pic is a wash of the medium tone. I will be doing the first part of the coloring tonight. I can't wait!

Hey sai I was referring particularly to post 78, what I meant by that is (and of course I could be totally wrong) it seems you were too busy trying to render it correctly instead of trying to capture their expression and mood. Emotion plays a big job in art itself so it's always important to pay heed to that. Anyhow, I love your newest update it seems you actually figured out what I meant anyways on your own great!

Oh!! No.. The only refrenced pic was this

    http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1243518305

    and this

The others were just from my head. And I totally agree that their expressions were blah. My main focus was to get the planes down. But, its not going so well. So, for future posts, I will be doing 3 reference pics for every 1 imaginary pic.
