    LostFayth's sketchbook - October 17th

Go to the last page for new stuff!

    Hey everybody,

Before I start posting everything here I thought it was appropriate to introduce myself first.

My name is Kailash, but my friends call me Kai. I'm a 20 year old art student in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. My major is Education in Art at the Willem de Kooning Academy. I hope I can be a part time teacher and a part time freelancing Illustrator one day. I know I have a long way to go, so any comments and critique's are greatly appreciated!

As for my sketchbook....I think I have some catchup to do. That is why I'll also put some older work here, starting from 04.2007 until now. Take a look and leave a comment if you will

Interesting work! My favorite is the girl's face right above the faerie. The robe next to her reminds me of the Org 13 robes :3
Looks like your lineart is in good shape. I'd like to see more shading!

It is indeed a org 13-ish robe. I like the character designs they used in kingdom hearts. The shading on a nude body is the hardest part for me. I spend hours to make the anatomy drawings and when I want to shade them I really don't know where to put the shades. I ordered some books of Bridgman and I hope that'll help me improve with my anatomy and shading of the human body.
Thank you for your kind words!

Woah! 4am? You should go get some sleep and practise after you have slept. Thanks for letting me know what you think of my sketches .

    'Schoolwork'

I posted some of my sketches I did in my spare time and I shouldn't leave out my work I made in art school right? I just finished my freshman year and I've improved a lot during that year.

    Here it goes....:

    part two

Part two of my school work and my latest digital piece. I regret the fact that I can't work a lot in photoshop or painter due to my computer. But if I get a chance to do so, I do it....wish I could do it more though....

Neat-o stuff here. The sketch of the boy (you?) is, imo, the best technically. You should do more of those - and of other people, too!
I also really like your digital piece; I can tell you put a lot of effort into it. But again; you should do some anatomy studies.
    Keep em coming!

Thank you so much Yeah that's me. I guess I should do more of those, the only thing is: I did it with pencils on a sheet of 50x65 cm and it took me almost 14 hours to complete it. But you're right, I should do this more and I will. My anatomy books will arrive this week (at least the shipping company told me it would) and then I'll do some anatomy studies. And in the meanwhile I guess I start a new self portrait drawing, but this time from a photo instead using a mirror.

Thanks for taking the time to comment my work =) I really appreciate it.

    small update

Wow....I've been really busy lately with school and helping my uncle move out to a new house. So didn't got really a lot of time to draw.

I tried some new things. I never did a thumbnail drawing in my life. I saw that a lot of people did it here on conceptart so I thought to try it myself. I did the first three with photoshop and the others with a Copic BrushM Multiliner.
Some of them are with reference (the kung fu fighters) but most of them are done by heart.
The other thing I tried was to draw a new concept on the computer and proceed to something I like. After that I printed that drawing out and redrew it with pencil on a piece of paper.

    This are the results:

    Hey turtle!

that last one's neck is a little thick (unless thats what you're going for)
but good stuff, I enjoyed seeing it!

hey man great start, dont forget about the line weight when it comes to inking, varying the thickness of the line can really make forms pop out more.

    Keep working at it!
