wow big challenge, but you do look to have the skills good enough to try it, i really like it so far, can't really say anything to improve. I like that fact that you can see the differences in painting styles so it isn't an exact copy, i'm sure the end result will turn out great.

I think the face and collar are very close to the reference. There are a few variations in shadow in the lower right portion of the collar, yours appearing lighter than the reference. Beyond that, it only seems like a matter of pulling that same level of detail into the cloak. Great stuff, keep going!
Ah...edit...sorry. There also seems to some variation in the eyes, which alters the expression. I can't say specifically what it is, but your piece appears more focused on where he is looking. The other seems slightly adrift.

Really great. The only thing I can see is that the mustach isn't symetrical. Its one of my small OCD issues lol. the Left (my left) side looks like is swoops down a bit lower than the right (my right).

It's really looking nice. Most of the body seems to be looking accurate. If I were to be nitpicky, what I think you could work on next is adding textures on this guy.The smooth background's begging it. I mostly see blobs of light on his clothes. See if you can convert that into a more furry texture, kinda like how you did with the hat. The hat definitely has a nice fluffy feel to it. And lastly, the eyes could use some adjustment like someone else suggested. It's kinda hard to say, but he seems a bit less...wondering than the original. He looks more focused on the viewer.
I'd love to see any updates you have on this guy. Keep it up!
