CARS: metallic grey, black, metallic red

Here is a piece I just wrapped up. I did it as a PS demo piece for my class and another piece for my book. Hope you enjoy. It is meant to be a fun wacky car made for kids.

Extremely tight. Your metallic rendering always has the perfect blend of matte and specularity. The design is pretty eye-catching, too. Really great work, Scott.

very nice. shades of the batmobile in the design. I think my ears and eyes would bleed and my head would explode if I tried to render something that realistically. I am not worthy.

    Thanks Guys,

I should have snapped some process jpegs. I will on the next one. I'm trying to get these under two hours.

    NaTe J,
No 3D, just snapped a picture of a 1/10scale rc car chassis and painted over the top of it in PS.

Here is another. Shiny black this time.
This one ran about 2 1/2 hours to render if you were wondering.

The reflection of the ground on the latest car... do you paint it or just copy a bit of the ground?

How ever it looks great and always enjoy your posts. Wish I could take some of your classes...

    Commander Obvious,
Thanks this one took a bit longer today.

    nikia,
Thanks, I took 40 snap shots of this one in progress for my book. I might go back and piece together some step by steps of the others too, but the process was basically the same for each, mostly freehand painting.

    MGH,
    Yeah, me too.

    Velo, al-x,
Thanks, just do a little copy and paste and then a little dodging to fake it. Keeps it quick and works well with loose textures like I'm using. Stay away from checker board ground planes!

    strych9ine,
    Thanks, I'm working on it.

    egerie,
    Excellent, thanks.

    I.was.ink,
Thanks, this one took almost double that if it makes you feel better.

    Android,
    Thanks.

    thenetbox,
    I'm working on it.

    scumworks,
Hell no, this one took about five!

    Loga4,
    Thanks.

    Another toy....

Scott, I was wondering for the next concept art book you guys come out with, will there be more of a step by step procedure or explaination to how the images were created?

Thanks in advance for answering if you get the time.
