my idea is going to revolve around a valley being uncovered by receding glaciers and polar ice melt. this is just the overall wide angle shot... i'll probably do an up-close-detail shot too once i nail a section to up-res.

probably going to do some kind of classical greek style architecture. not because i have any plausible scenario, just for visual reasons. well, hypothetically you could always create some theory that atlantis didn't sink--it drifted to the south pole and froze... something like that maybe.

Question: is ANY civilization ok? I mean, Gauls had a civilisation, too. Only that it wasn't as snobbish as the old Egyptian's or greek.

I'm going to do this one; I finished the last one but realised I was too late to post it!

I like this task, it's a nod to real life yet we still get to work our imagination.
I might go for Polynesian, or a civilization that's even more obscure.

    any civilzation is fine

but its hard to establish architecture in a confined locale for a basically nomadic civilization... ie celts, or bedouins. youd need to explain how they came to be trapped in the valley.. and how they survived the cultural changes of being stationary, and what remained of the previously mobile society

and I expect you to do all that visually without a lot of explaination
    Keep description/explaination to 4 sentences..or less

bearingall that in mind. Go for it!

Wow, nice topic. My imaginations going wild already. I always love all the art on here. I've never been really good at the environmental drawings. I really need to work on it. Maybe get some good pictures and just keep drawing until I'm better at all the formations and everything. Keep up the good work people! I enjoy watching.

Well, I thought I'd try this round in black and white. Technical pen. But it turned out terrible :o ... The buildings got lost in the cliffs so to try and salvage them I made them super hight contrast. Now they don't fit with the rest. Oh well. I'll end up redoing this bad concept lol

Smile The Lost City of Glacium

I like this subject a lot as well!

I'm working on a polar concept similar to ccsears, but different enough I think.
I've got a massive arctic Ice cave, glaciers, fjords, a lost Roman armada and a backstory to account for the centuries of isolation.

I like your idea of Atlantis drifting instead of sinking ccsears - Excellent!

The concept you've got going is terrific Xezor1324 . I'd love to see you flesh this concept out!

    Here's my scribble so far:

The Lost City of Glacium (actual city coming soon!)
