Painter X.1 Scratchboard Tool Lagging with Large Brush Sizes

    Hi,

I've just installed Corel Painter X.1 and am going through tweaking the application and customizing brushes. I am having a problem with the scratchboard tool.

When the brush size is small it seems to run fine, but when the brush size is jacked up anything 100+ strokes lag considerably.

I'm running an Intel Core Duo 2GHz with 2Gb RAM.

Has anyone encountered this? If so, how did you fix it, or overcome it?

    Regards,

    dew57

It's the same with any complex brush; it happens to me when I use the Tapered Gouache. I'm guessing it has to do with system resources...if it does it with your specs than it must take a massive amount of memory to make strokes that big smoothly. I just get by with a smaller brush, usually.

You might want to take a look at Hot-Rodding your brushes in Painter:

The rendered engine is not really complex (only size by pressure for inking lines), it's one of most basic engines in Painter, you probably just have damping very high or spacing.
