Great batch Daryl, although I hate to call it a batch because each one is individually awesome!

Lighting, drama and action are definitely your signature. I could nitpick on some prominent anatomy flaws but I won't ...you know very well what you're doing and if there is a flaw, you probably left it there on purpose, whether it's due to the lack of time or the fact that you already succeded in "saying what you wanted to say" with that particular painting.

It seems to me that you're working pretty fast (am I right?)...I'm curious, if these were for work, how much time would you be given for one of those images, say "the wet dream" ?

Great idea on the blog, it gives your fans a chance to follow your work more closely...I'll be watching

Keep the inspiration going! You are da man!

Great job as always man. Most love the one with guy a robot fight, that has nice colors and is pretty dynamic.

I have been an admirer of your work for a while, i love the depth (or the illusion of depth) that you have. That coupled with their intensity makes your work very strong and engaging.

Love them, but for the first, the action is not easy to read, and you must look twice to understand what happens

Hi daryl, always good seeing your new art, I love the way you keep experimenting though you already have great skills. I must admit you're one of the artists I love best!

I recently used the color palette of one of your early pieces "last of the invaders" for a cover I was commissioned, hope you don't mind !

    keep the great work up!

guys(and girls), thanks for all the warm comments!

walnut: took a while for the bell to ring, but yeah that guy is amazing. I wasn't inspired by him, at least I didn't have his stuff in mind while painting that one, but maybe it was there subconsciously? I am a big fan of his heavy metal stories. Nobody does demonic stuff like him.

Kian; Thanks Jon, I will endeavor to keep the blog updated. And more cute robots for you.

Blue Severin; thanks man, I don't get to see much sunshine, but I hear it's out there....

Mike Corriero; Thanks Mike - that is indeed a custom bubble brush. Nothing too fancy...I made it while I was painting that.

Atmospheria; haha - man I have no idea. Too many video game and comic books in my past? Great point though - I should be trying different - really different things.

Matt Smith; thanks matt, I slaved over those arms, I think I fell too much in love with them (always dangerous).

simoncheng; thanks Simon - you're sketchup work is very inspiring....keep at it.

MoonVisionStudio; thanks Jose! Do you mean he should have his eye pressed against the scope?

stoph ; thanks man - they are the kings... =)

xchosun1x; cheers James, hope you're doin good.

Chupacabra; dude, thanks! great points. I don't know why I didn't catch the ears....much appreciated!

    Ahnem Mee; excellent...my army grows.

crazybrush; hey Goran, thanks man. I am sloppy when I paint, I think I need to be more diligent in identifying flaws. And you're right, I do work pretty fast ( I think)...but I wouldn't consider my self a 'speed painter' or anything like that. For work I usually wouldn't get to do something that high fidelity, but that would probably be a couple days of work or so. More if I need to produce thumbnails/roughs and that kind of thing....for these personal peices I usually just launch straight in and see what happens.

`rawr; Thanks man, I will post more lifedrawing soon. They are scratchy and scribbly, but I'm glad you like them. Unfortunately I busted my camera and have yet to replace it....so hopefully that will happen soon.

spookybabydoll; thanks spooky...yes perhaps it is a little hectic.

Max_Bertolini; Not at all, hope you're doing well. Saw several peices on your site I ahdnt seen before....looking good!

Lone Wolf ; thanks man - For now these are the highest res versions I'm going to post....the problem is before you know it your work shows up on some video card box, poster, etc without your permission...and I really want to minimize those headaches.

Serpian; hah - your post made me laugh. cheers!

Daaaaamn D, you are ROCKING the wacom! Wet dream is awesome, just stared at it for so long...the crazy hands and skin translucence...sweet.

The last image, the sniper, he looks a bit off balance to me, like he'll tip back.

Love the overall use of textures, subtle rather than dominating the image.

    For this I issue the

dude I`m running out of space in my "Daryl Mandryk is a damn bastard" inspiration folder. these are all, as usual, outstanding. ^____^

1st (sweet action and movment) and 3rd (love her pose and the overall composition) are particularly painful.

    MAN you`re good....

    thanks for sharing these.

Either his eye should be pressed against the scope or his head should be higher than the scope, if he just fired or is about to aim. Unless you are laying down on the ground you bring the rifle/scope up to your face to aim and then lower it again.

I really like your blog BTW.

    Fantastic work!

That first image is one of the few truly effective uses of motion blur I've ever seen.
