It's been a while. And it's been realllllly friggin' hot in my area. So, no landscapes right now. But I do have some prep work I did for a painting that I'll be doing later, and some doodles to stay in practice and keep me from going crazy.

Hey everyone. Only one thing today. Some thumbnails I did for the TAD color theory and composition class, which for the record is AMAZING!

From left->right, top->bottom, they are (supposed to be) lust, pride, shock, lust, rage, fear, peace and love. Thoughts?
Shock and love are sideways in this scan btw.

    More to do.
    More to come.

Keepin busy, keepin busy. Some longer figure studies to balance out the short mental studies with Hogarth and such. I swear I'm not this burned out in real life. The sketchbook adds a bit.

Hey dudes. After a trip to Philly to see some art, I got a few sketches. I did some quick composition studies and longer studies of character dress and things like that.

If you haven't read this post by Dave Rapoza, you should. Right now. It's an absolute truth that everyone of us has to struggle with at some point. I know I did over the weekend.

Wasn't too productive this weekend. .
Here's a bit of it though.

I've got to dig up every weakness that I can find in myself that I've been avoiding and draw the shit out of it.

Got pretty beat up by the poster project for Color Theory and Comp. Didn't get a whole ton of studies done. Here's a self portrait WIP and some skull studies.

    Long time no see!
Been working my figures out with silhouette.

It's been going ok but I have good news and bad news.
The bad news is that I have absolutely no idea how to draw the figure anymore or use pastels for that matter.

Very nice studies and learning process! The understanding of the body is lacking, still, some believability, but the progress is visible, so keep going and looking closely! (Not too closely, it's not all about the detail!)

    Pleasing!

Jansi->Thanks! Hah true, true. I come from overdoing detail so these quick timed studies are the hardest damn things to do.
Exon-Ion->Thanks! Bridgeman is my breakfast most days.
Ok. Quicker studies now. 5, 10 and 15 minute studies here. Seeing some small improvement even if it's mostly due to weather or not I'm using the rough side of the paper or the smooth side. . .

Sorry about the image overload--I'm still trying to see in silhouette.
P.S. Sorry about the shitty scans too.

Quick update here, then back to art for me.
2 pseudo vignettes. I think they still need a bit of love but I'll get around to that.

Hey dudes and dudettes. Here's what's shakin.
I pissed at getting my ass kicked by everyone on earth but at right now I'm pinned down with school. I have about 5 paintings, 2 prints and 2 drawings to do my the first week of December. So, until mid December, I probably won't have too much presence here. Which is kind of how it's been since October. .
I think the point here is school takes up way too much time for me to actually improve sometimes.
But anyways, here's a still life I did a bit ago in ink.

Pregaming for the holidays with a little Bougeureau studying. Getting better at four color palettes and grisaille! I still need to work on getting the far side of the woman's face to roll back into space. It's a little flat =O

    Nice sketchbook so far,
keep making those studies and sketches i think that you should keep concentrating on making the anatomy sketches and studies because now your painting skills are a bit better than your drawing skills.
Anyways keep up with the great work you're on the right path.

Some updates here from today and yesterday. I'm still having problems figuring out the right side of the onion. No matter what I've done, it always goes flat and gets confusing as to which part of the onion is closer or above in space.
Anyways, I have some more color studies in the works.

    Here's some recent studies:
As much as I've done it, I still find myself at odds with digital mediums from time to time. Aka today.

Here's some work from this week. Mostly studies and a start on the CHOW this week-> Rangda.
I may have stretched the interpretation a bit (seeing what some other people are doing) but it works out in my head which is exactly what's important all the time, right? Anyways, here goes.

Doing some more color studies again. I've been keeping up with drawing studies.
Any crits or comments on color would be fantastic. I've been focusing on cools and warms in light and shadow.

I've completely forgotten how much fun figure studies are.

Got some speedies here. Just a couple quick landscapes for practice. If anyone has any crits about landscapes [like color, building atmosphere, depicting depth effectively, etc], please speak up! I really know nothing of anything outside. . .

Lots of work here, very impressed with how you tackle so many mediums; pencils, digital, 3D, you're doing it all Your values are improving from what I can see - your last image with the 3 figures looks on point. What program are you using for the 3D on your latest if I may ask?
