EDIT: Thought I'd update post number one for a new thumbnail
Well. Hopefully having a place to post my drawing will keep me motivated to hack together a portfolio.
These are all quick sketches that I did today.
It's funny, when I was in highschool I doodled like crazy. But now... not so much. I feel silly sitting down and just drawing whatever I want. In fact, when I was drawing these just now, I was thinking back to what I doodled back then, desperate for some guidance!

Life drawing, plus anatomy study. 2 weeks without thinking about anatomy lead to a ridiculously frustrating time in the open studio/life drawing.
hm. I think I need to start shading my sketches more. The gesture is from 2 weeks ago, before my anatomy derth.
So, here is another from last night. I've gotta start drawing guys more often.
draw guys, but please dont forget to draw girls as well!
I SWEAR ON THE GRAVES OF ALL THE TALENTED FILIPINO ARTISTS WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE ME, THE FILIPINO ART LEGACY WILL CONTINUE!
MY DAY JOB http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=136204
MY ANGRY SKETCHBOOKhttp://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...129015&page=13
more of the same plus a creature attempt (for COW) thanks to my "hour of failure" where in I draw things I suck at for one hour.
Mysterious people, what do you think? (sorry for the blurry photos)
fantastic sketches dude. I really lliked this one http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1225070595 also the figures, very solid.
wow your sketches are awesome, such a routined stroke and the well rendered out portrait in the first post ist just .. GAH .. stunning
Wow, great stuff! I really like the face of the man!
I like the drawing of the male head, the rendering is great but the back of the head looks like it's cut off, as if wearing a cap...I see some faint pencil lines that seem indicate some kind on head covering. Is this so?
yeah you're right about the head, I did make it weirdly pointy :/
haha awesome start on the sketchbook, i give you cool beans on what you have so far.
I love this one for some reason, it has a great sense of mood
I've been working on this tonight. Trying to actually finish something.... what do you think? It's just a beginning right now. (gosh, do I ever draw heads facing right? yikes)
PS Thank you for all the replies! It's really helpful to know what you do/do not like! More guns and burkas coming for sure.
last post is great, but I really like your pencil work. especially the skull is great!
i'm not that good at anatomy but i think the woman in post 7 has to short legs. i don't know if i'm right. just feels like that to me. nothing else to crit. keep it up. want to see more!
here are some quick-ish poses... sometimes I think I've de-proved. It's hard to tell without some distance and objectivity. I'm planning on applying to some art schools this winter and I'm worried that my now looser (more fun!) figure drawings wont be the evidence of solid underlying construction that they (Calarts) want. :/
If you haven't already, check out: http://www.aaroncoberly.com/ I love, love love his figure drawings.
great pencils, i really like how loose and yet solid they feel. i really wouldn't change your style to get into a certain school, i'm sure they'll be able to see that you've got good construction skills by just looking at your stuff, no matter how loose you feel it is.
can't wait to see more.
Incredible figure drawings man, good grasp of anatomy. Love it.
Just put some kind of cap on the back of his head to round it off and no one will know...I won't tell.
What medium did you use on the color sketches?
really cool stuff
definitely gonna be watching
Those are some great drawings man!
Thank you all for your nice replies...really makes my day!
@raskull, for the color sketches (ie the paintings?) I'm using acrylic.
What a frustrating night, I must say. I spent four hours on a bad bad painting, 4 hours!!
Here are a few more, the first one is a copy from ferdinand hodler, a new art hero of mine, you should definately try a google search. The second is a longer pose portrait I did a few weeks ago.
Oh god all you talented people have me in a funk!!
