    Better hand-eye cord?

So we have blind contours for working on our observational skills. What kind of exercises could I do to help my hand-eye coordination? When drawing quickly I constantly have a hard time getting the lines down right. Even when I slow down i find myself looking at the paper too much(or so I've been told looking at the paper to much is bad). Sometimes I'll just look down and wonder why my hand just did what it did. Should I just continue on with blind contours and gestures, or try something new to build my hand-eye coordination?

Looking through your sketchbook, I'd say just keep doing what you're doing. A huge part of learning how to draw is breaking down the mental barriers between your mind and your hands. Just keep working at the gestures and the anatomy and you'll improve. Repetition is the key to mastery.

Play the "Cranium" board game with friends, one set of challenges is blind contour drawing. Oh yeah, and video games like Davi said. If you can do Geese Howard's Raging Storm or Deadly Rave flawlessly then you're in good shape.
