Wes's Sketchpad- Up for improvement!
Been a while since I last posted something (it was the Optimus Prime pic, about a year ago).
Basically, my videocard burned up, which managed to free up plenty of time to dedicate to drawing. I've been practicing a lot, and I hope you like the results.
I've been toying around with these characters based on the Star Wars saga but metaphorical of righteousness, temptation and the good girl one's hoping to meet some day.
Anyway, here's a trio of images on those characters. Kinda WIP, except for one of them.
Sorry for the huge files! I'll make them smaller next time I post.

Third character is the good girl. Not as beautiful as temptation, and certainly far more modest about herself.
Working on expressions as well. My work has become influenced by Manga, but only slightly. I try to keep attached to a realistic approach to faces and anatomy, yet stylized.
For intermediate students, I recommend the "How to Draw Manga" instructional books. They offer a wealth of ideas to add life and originality to your drawings.

So, this last week was really sad for me. Nobody died, or anything, but I did lose all my drawing tools on the most stupid fashion.
I basically forgot my backpack on the bus, carrying my sketchpad, 3 "How to Draw Manga" books, and most of my pencils, tech pens, prismacolors, etc.
To think I was riding the bus to save on gas! Lesson learned: if you have an Impreza, bloody drive it to work! To hell with gas prices.
I owe Conceptart.org for making me scan that hard work before so foolishly losing it!
Gladly, the skill is still in my brain and in my hand, so at least the most important parts are intact! (trying to think positive here...)
So, these other works are all from after the loss. Hope you like them.
1) Bad Girl next version:
2) Female Samurai sad for the loss of her sisters (missing with my lost sketchpad)
3) A Lord Darth Vader WIP
4) and a closeup of his upper body. I like to show his eyes beneath the visor, alla Episode IV.
Btw, if you're reading this, drop me a line. I'm here for the advice of you guys and girls.

Just some general observations:
some of your character's eyes tend to not be leveled (mirroring the image helps you see this). Maybe work on some realistic heads; will help you even if you're not going for total realism.
the lighting on some images is off. e.g. http://img168.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_647lo.jpg
Shadow on left foot shrunk.
I don't know how chrome shadows work, but even so shadows look off. Be sure to stay consistent with your light source.
Keep on chugging. Hope to see more good stuff.

This one started as not much else than a rushed Kimono study, but after penning it, I realized it had some real potential. I used my new 42 piece Prismacolor set! =)
Sadly, I was not able to include as much detail in the face as I would have liked, considering how satisfied I am with the rest of it. The light blue background is also an afterthought.

I really like the girl from post #6. And old fashion is the best! =]
An Artist, but then again, not an Artist.
I love Anatomy after studying history of Art.
No sketchbook as of now.
