This is awesome! You really know how to handle natural media. Some of those nudes are fantastic. The oils too ... Keep posting.

Have actually 2 filled sketchbooks at home that I have to scan, but I'm too lazy.
Got two more oils to show though:

Thanks for checking my book out.

You started this thread EXACTLY my taste of work. The ink drawings are fantastic. That said, your watercolors stand out as so energetic. The study of the Japanese horse warrior kicks ass.

    Plus...I'm jealous of your travels!

Experiment to do a monochrome painting. I did a lot of mistakes, and I'm not yet sure what to think of it - but at least hopefully learned for next time

I'm also behind on sketchbooks - got 2 full books to scan. Arghhh.

Yeah, I think i approach things differently recently... and as long as I'm not stagnating, I'm fine still a long way to go.

Great update. I especially love how the statue painting was handled. The brushwork is wonderful - very raw yet controlled

    How large is that painting?

    biggjoee5790: Thank you .

Hexokinase: Thanks, glad you like it. The picture is 24 x 24 cm. I plan to do more of those smaller studies - as they go quick (which strangely turns out better for me often, than when I have much time).

hey Thomas! I like the richness of colors in your paintings, but the monochromatic one is pretty good too... you could experiment also with two colors instead of one. Just an idea.

    Awesome work mate!
It's great to see you work with natural media like oil. I envy your dedication

Here are 2 new oil paintings - the last ones of this year. And my sketchbook - I'm a bit behind on that one, so its the rest of 2008.

I think this is my last posting in this sketchbook - maybe only the odd picture now and then. I have much on the CGhub page and on my blog. It is getting a bit too much work to post it several times.

Some pictures of the latest Sketchmeet in Amsterdam/Haarlem. Was great.

This one I want to make into a painting when I find the time.

These are all collaborations from the event ...

I was askin around for "cute scary" creatures - to exchange the one in the first drawing.

I really enjoy the looseness of you your brushmarks and your pen work. At the same time I feel one or 2 spots of tighter rendering could help the eye focus on some parts more.
Just a personal feeling so keep up the good work.
Colours on the last painting rock!

Thanks, glad you like it - and I'm always happy about constructive critique. I find the tighter rendering tough, it is hard to make it still look powerful. I'll try to get better at it.

Another update with some collaborations - this time at a little cinema in a squat in Amsterdam. Worked with Nadia, David and Kelp from this forum on these.

    And another recent oil painting.

Looking for as much input as I can on this artwork.

I wrote a bit more explanation and a little list on my webpage: here. I have some plans what to do with the details - but also I'm somewhat stuck with the general idea of it. It's not quite there "storywise" I think. Any ideas or other ciritique?

Wow man, I love ! Your Venice paintings are incredible. The third one, with the yellow sunlight is awesome. Your two watercolor figures lying on the red drape are really incredible man ! So simple shapes, yet so expressive and colorful ! And your nude/non-nude figures, then the girls at the bar, they're just... o_o !
Cool portraits on last post too but I prefer your traditional work.
And this oil, man. This oil. O-O'
And the characters on your sketchbook pages make me think a bit of Hugo Pratt's rough drawings, the kind you can see on the first pages of his Corto Maltese albums : simple, continuous lines. KUTGW.

    Daily sketch !
Old sketchbook, with apes and ghost towns.

Thank you so much Mawh - great to hear that you like it so much

I enjoy the watercolors too, they're so much fun to make. So I plan to do more - I've got some vacation paintings at home for scanning.
Here are some other recent traditional works (2 watercolor and one oil).
