    J. Fields ****sketchbook****

    ~side note~
Haven't been drawing for the past couple years, recently got a wacom, and my artistic side has been resurrected. I hope that my independent study and art will do something to get me outta delivering pizza for the rest of my life. ^_^
Primarily started drawing comic book heroes, turned to a photoshop addiction from there I went to doing websites on the side.. and gave up on my dream of doing fantasy, concept art..

The following are my feeble attempts to get back into the flow..

    first digital painting,
and a few comic book sketches colored in photoshop..

Actually had a chance to chat with a concept artist at Midway Games this past weekend... Super informative.. and great insight... I look forward to taking some anatomy classes, life drawing and honing my ability's in digital painting and zbrush..

Been reading "the Skillful Huntsman" and a watching a few vids, cant wait to get some of the ones from Massive Black.. even thinking of attending REVELATIONS if I can afford it..

The guns and the concept faces are pretty damn good. Don't be afraid of have more highlights, contrast and hard edges in your work.

You mean, less dark soft edges, more hard lines?

Basically, but some shadows are also hard edged. Plus, hard edges can help create focus points.

your on the right track here
1 tip dont use so much pure black and white, certainly when your working with color

also do some anatomy studies (i shouldnt be the one to say this normally )
they will really make you understand all the muscles better.
    keep it up
