Really like the palette and skin texture, digging the composition too. Very nice!

I'm liking that one too, they both have like a resident evil 4ish vibe to em. Some nice realism in the second one, looks great.

Some of this makes me think of Wayne Douglas Barlowe's work with "Expedition" and "Inferno." Good stuff!

Love the textures of your creatures and the modeling job. It is very well done.

I especially love the digitally painted downhiller. The design is very unique and interesting.

I like this orc, very neat textures and thanks for explaining it. I wouldnt mind seeing it taken further with a fitting theme in the BG, with even some equipment on his back....going on some of the light directions (such as on the ear), I think his jaw could use some highlights as well?

Do you work in visual effects? there are signs of it in much of your work...I have to say that I am more interested in painted envrionments than photos, but making things come together in a realistic way is an art on its own

Thats look great, good job on the creatures.
My only crit is that you should make more anatomy studies, that will help with the creature designs. Understanding of muscle groups will give the designs more purpose, functionality and that in the end is what sells the image to the viewer, it has to be believable. I see muscle mass here and there that seems to serve no purpose, it all could be balanced more. That zombie is a good example, can see rather typical mistakes people also do in 2d drawings. the proportions seem off.
Creating even very bizarre creatures some rules apply. Proportions of all parts must be balanced and in harmony with each other, elements should be functional.
Looking at the image 2 for example, the body does not look like it is made to swim fast under water, there is to little shape that could be used as a fin, human legs would even work better than that. Also having the light antennas makes it look like the creature is meant to be very deep but the water is shallow here.
Those are small things but they add up.

    cheers

Do not take the crit to hard please, i don't mean your work is bad, its pretty good, that is why i give you the crit.

One thing i have to say right away, just because people sell something it does never label the product as right and free of mistakes.
Publish work is one thing, tho you must admit that there are many levels of quality on the professional market and there is always space to push and improve quality of designs, style and execution.
I agree that it is solely up to you how far you are willing to go and if you listen to peoples advice.

Talking about proportions and anatomy i was not referring to your breaker mutant, this one looks good to go. I was talking about the more abstract creatures, pic 3,5

i do not agree with you on the functionality in creature designs, they have to be as functional as everything else, that is why the monsters you see in big movies look cool and believable and the monsters in cheap productions.. cheap.
I am not talking about personal taste, i never judge by that.

wish you good luck and progress
    cheers

np, i got what you meant, no worries.
Sorry, with selling it to the viewer i didn't mean it literally but it works all the same.
I am very much aware of positive feedback, i am sure you have heard it big time in all variations.
I can tell you that the vast majority of people, including professionals will a) give positive feedback regardless b) give no feedback at all. c) some hating minority.

Its always easier to give people an ass pat and point out the good things, telling someone all is great. Now ass patting was never my strong side but it never means i do not see the good things in peoples work, i do and i enjoy it and if i see great potential or people who try pushing their work then i rather reward them pointing out the bad sides, because in the end it comes down to those who will think things over and fix and those who sit back and relax on their positive feedback.
There are lots of talented people out there, some never fail to amaze, getting better with each painting, always pushing but even more people who show little progress after 10 years, as if the time froze for them.

personally i hardly seek crits on public forum, tho i have a couple of good friends and i ask them for their honest opinion, they will point out everything bad and thats what i am interested to hear. I can tell that many artists see the weak points in their work, but instead of fixing they will first ask others, others will say it look AWESOME, that makes the problems go away. For me, it does not.

BTW, i agree about seeking the opinion of the majority, thats correct, painting pics for people you need to know what people like. But that is all about moods, colors, topics, never about technical issues, the majority will never grasp the technical issues and i am sure you know that.

i have said it all. sorry for spamming your topic and don't get me wrong, i do like your work.

    cheers
