O hi dere - tarngerine's sketchbook - industrial design, anatomy, et

    Hi

Student at Carnegie Mellon studying Industrial Design and Human Computer Interaction and doing concept art on the side and hopefully as a career at one point in my life.'

I hated drawing until freshman year of college because of crappy art teachers, I hated art because of a lot of art faggotry at my school ("this random splotch expresses my inner most desire to eat poop") and now I regret not exploring it more. But then I realized it was pretty much my fault for not liking art.

In the first post, all the stuff was done sometime between Mid may when I got out of school, and last week. Some done with references, others without, you may recognize a few from some other artists.

    Not chronological.

Stuff includes shape, anatomy, still life studies, some mimicking of certain artists (like Shinji from MGS) and then applying it to my own designs (the dude with the beret? hat holding out a gun to the right and the old bald man to the bottom right of Raiden), then the very end is a personal project with friends to design conceptual stereo/audio equipment from the future. Those are all from the first step of concepting, probably will work on it sometime soon.

Some anatomy stuff I've been doing in the past two days has yet to be photographed.

    Really big post

My main issue is economy of line, which I tend to slack off on when using ballpoint/graphite pencils. Seems to correct itself when I use more permanent media like microns (well kind of) and markers.

Shoot me I don't know how to paint digitally with a mouse.

Trying to figure out how to change the thumbnail.

I can understand that with the art teachers.
I know that. I think school really need art teachers who can show the class how great art can be.

To your work: I really like your style. You can make just some lines and show form really well. I find this amazing.
    Your machines also look great.
I am looking forward to see more from you.

Happy you choose to draw after the years pain from the art teachers.

Just keep at it and have fun. Cool SB so far, looking forward to more.

    Wasp

More stuff from the past 2 weeks or so...

Mostly anatomy (from loomis, some other book, and without reference), some still lifes from camping, with a little bit of perspective/spaceship and marker studies

Drew about 50+ pages worth of circles/ellipses, but I'm not going to post them here, my circles are still terrible

They're not well exposed because I forgot to change white balance and stuff on my camera and didn't do any post processing, but whatever

Wow I uploaded 20 images and accidentally chose an icon for the post and I had to start over uploading? What's up with that? No mass upload either. Oh well

Okay wow it just did it again without me doing anything at all

    What the hell

Wow, that's alot of anatomy and studies. Thanks for making me feel lazy.

On many of your profiles head shots, your lower jaw is protruding alot - in most people it's actually the opposite. So just watch that area.

    Great updates.

Sevans - thanks for that tip, I noticed that before, too, but I just thought it was me. I'll work in it.

Here's another page that is two pages I did today combined... still working on ballpoints and being good at cars and other transporatation things in the sideview, as well as perspective.

    I love it.
    non digital concept art
in the first few ones what type of marker are you using I have recently gotten into markers and need to figure out a good brand before I seriously invest in them. Anyways Nice contour in the first few with the drawings of household objects, your images just reek of design the only thing I can crit right now is your lack of detail, nice lines but you need to use more texture in rendering and more finished stuffoh and if you want to go digital you'll need a wacom tablet keep it up and stop by sometime like to hear from you

I'm using Prismacolor markers... since it's pretty much what everyone uses at school and I already had a box of it from a couple years back. I'd like to move onto copic sketch markers when I get the hang of these prismas
