    post apocalyptic seattle...

So I recently re-watched Escape from New York, which I hadn't seen in like a decade. Anyway the whole idea of turning manhattan into essentially a prison seemed like it would work really well for Seattle (I mean hell all it takes is an accident on 520 and you pretty much can't leave the city). Anyway since I had some free time on my hands before starting a new job, I decided to do this..

the explosion/fire isn't reading right, i think mainly because the flames and smoke look too much like a cookie-cut brush preset, you know? the glow and the way in which it's layered over the building isn't enough to make my brain think "this buildings on fire, yo!" (not that my brain sounds like that when it thinks.. but you get the picture). great details nonetheless!

Nicely done, though it seems the Space Needle got blown clean across downtown to the International District! The big blaze in the lower right isn't quite working. There's a bit too much red glow around it for how dim the central firey area is.

And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

Thats a really cool piece, but that really was what Seattle looked like last time I was there. Ha, knocking cities down a peg.
I have never been to Seattle, if you cant tell.

The only Thing I would change would be to have the space needle collapse and fall on a few other buildings, but its still cool.

I really like the the Graphic novel style forensic themed pages on your site. I agree that the orange flash isnt quite there yet. We all have different tastes but for me I somehow expect a reason (story) for it to be there.

Congrats on your success and new job.

Really nice mood going on there, very dark and brooding. The colours work well too, but i agree with other peoples comments that the explosion doesn't look quite right. It seems very static and un-dynamic, and the actual rendering needs to be a bit more opaque (after all, explosions aren't flat - they are 3D and need to be rendered with depth in mind).

In all, great job (very minor picky-bit that i've just noticed, but the major light source on the left looks great but there seems to be a spot of natural illumination to the right, and some god-rays that wouldn't work due to the angle of the sun?... Yes yes, thats incredibly pick of me i know!).
