Note to self: Come up with a better title [Updated September 11th]

    Hello o/

This is my new sketchbook here at DA. I haven't been very active recently and I felt that the best way to start posting here again was to create a new thread. Hope you don't mind.

I'm an 18-year-old upper secondary school student from Finland. I have been interested in art seriously about three to four years now but I have been in a art school since I was 7 years old. I will do the degree work next year and I'm seeking an inspiration for that.

This sketchbook is mainly about going back to the beginning, to the basics. I try to master the from of human body by practising anatomy from books. Later I will tke part in life drawing class.

Hope you enjoy visiting this sketchbook, and will share your wisdom and advise to help me become better.

    ---

Here's some resent sketches, not really my best work to begin with, but they will do.

    Hello again.

I haven't got time to draw lately but I'll post some older work I did few weeks ago. The second one is my mother. I did a quick sketch while she was working.

    More coming soon...

BTW, I was wondering how you can post the pictures, so they won't be into that "Attached Thumbnails" -box and you could write text between the pictures? If somebody could be so kind to tell me how to do this, I would be very grateful!

I quite like those of your last post, specifically the sketch done of your mother. I'd like to see more sketches with genuinely completed figures, though, as most of these seem to deal with heads and anatomy separately, i.e. portraiture in one, anatomy in the other.

Anyway, as for the whole text between the images: you attach the images as you would do normally, and then click the paperclip above the post and select the image to insert. It will appear as (ATTACH)123456(/ATTACH). You can then do your little piece of writing and then repeat with the next image.

I hope that's clear, erm... good luck and keep posting!

nolarc: Thank you so much! That helped me alot ^.^

I found an old sketchbook of mine today. It was one of those times when you look at your old work and don't even remember when or where you have done those. I thought it would be fun to share some of them with you.

    Enjoy!

Small update again. I really try to update daily and espesially _draw_ daily but I can say it ain't easy. I feel like I'm not going anywhere with my drawings. Lack of inspiration and motivation, I guess.

But anyways. Here's the sketch I've done today.

    Older stuff today, sorry folks.

I remember being so proud of some of these pictures few years back. Not so much anymore as you might imagine. But it's fun to take a look at your old work sometimes. You really can point out your mistakes and notice the improvement from them when time passes.

Love the way you draw your muscles and skeletons very inventive with the shading you use on them. It is nice to look at old stuff once in a while. Sometimes I'm paranoid I'll revert back, You might wanna try making some sort of guide when about to draw anatomy. Like how most draw a circle for the head.
I'd like to see more portraits too, like the ones in your first post. Anyway~ Good luck! Keep updating!

callouses on the fingers. If you don’t have any, you’re not drawing enough.

Talkingjello: Thank you, I'll try to do more portraits. Now I'm mainly just practising anatomy but it's good to do something else now and then.

Love the latest anatomy, especially the muscles. The 2 portraits are nice, be careful of your necks, you might wanna study on that and the collar bone. More use of that skill at coloring would be awesome.

It is good to see you are taking anatomy so seriously! I think you could definitly benefit from some gesture drawing in a life drawing class. Start with 2 min drawings and see if you can get down to 30 seconds just capturing the feeling of the drawing, it will help bring your drawings to life.

Talkingjello: Thank you for your comment! I'll try to study more.

Blythe: I will start in a life drawing class next fall. Cannot wait. The classes are very rare in my area, only one class in a year. But that's better than nothing.

Okay, here are sketches I did from my pet cat, Mussukka. She's very difficult model, can't be still even in asleep! So the longest poses vere about 15 to 20 minutes long, the shotest were about 15 to 30 sec.

Hey, sorry about the late update. I started in a life drawing class, but I haven't been able to scan them yet to the computer. They are coming soon.

The class is so great. I'm the youngest there, but it doesn't matter. Our menthor is great and everybody else in the class are great too.

So everything is great... yeah :'D
