hey guys and gals, i was looking through my old website and i found my parsons portfolio, so i figured i'd post it up for ya.

http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=125887 : this is my calarts portfolio too (i believe it was posted somewhere on the first page of this thread...) i got $12000 from them, also from last year and for the character animation department
i also applied for sva and mica with generally the same portfolio as parsons with maybe some pieces from the calarts one...em..i dont really remember... i dont remember what scholarships i got from them since i was...em..more focused on parsons and calarts. but i applied for animation for sva and illustration for mica.
anyways, i hope this helps you guys out.
(haha, oh man. now that i look back at it...i dont know why i submited some of the things i did...)
i got some thumbnails of stuff i did in photoshop......please comment
I'm no expert, but skill wise you look like you have a great chance of getting into any school you want. Lol.
Are the ballerina, the eagle, and the cello done from photographs you took yourself or from life?
Most people I've talked to said that schools prefer stuff done from life, and that they don't really like stuff done from photos, and that they really hate stuff done from commercial photographs/photographs you didn't take yourself...and I guess admissions officers have the ability to spot any of the three (I've seen this happen to kids during live portfolio reviews and etc).
I'm only asking because you said you did them all in photoshop and I can't tell if you're sitting in front of settings or pulling them off net.
Amazing work, good luck with working on your portfolio.
My sketchbook. Input and advice is, well, appreciated. :] http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=118556
Hey guys, great thread! Looking at your portfolios are amazing.
Just one quick question, I'm applying for college in Jan and I've only ever made one portfolio in high school. To cut a long story short should I get a big sized sheet of paper and back my stuff onto it (sounds clumsy I know but I need to bring it in at the interview and its the only way I can think of)
C&C are more than welcome

Let's see more portfolios...this really helps.
i see what you mean amoolie.
well.....he cello is actually a photograph, and the picture of the balerrina actually my own composition which was sort of made u after looking at a lot of photos of ballerinas and eagles
i was actualy going to do and eagle in flight....but then decided to go for a portrait of one.....
this is a painting of my mum, done in life.....
i had to take a photograph after a while cus she got bored of sitiing in one position
i used oil on cardboard......
i wonder whether this would be good enough.
ive got like horde of these at home..sort of lying around.
This is a really great thread and I enjoyed looking at everyone's portfolios. Especially those who got into CalArts because I will be applying very very soon for the 2009 2010 year.
I was wondering if one of you CalArts folks would tell me what I will be expecting in the mail after I apply. Will the acceptance letter be just a letter... or will it be a package?
Rakael, this is excellent work for a high school student! It has solidity and a real sense of form and planes. You have taught yourself a lot.
noooo a surprise???
i have to knoww...
