Very new to this forum, found it only yesterday and have had a great time browsing, never really subjected my own work for critique from a peer group before & decided it was time to go back and start learning again.
Only training i've had was what little I read of 'How to draw comics the Marvel way' by Stan Lee & John Buscema, which was a present from my comic collecting older brother when he saw me trying to draw spiderman and the likes.
So many, many years down the line, I present to you: Cyco Miko
Any Suicidal Tendencies fans will no doubt spot who this character owes his likeness to, please feel free to c+c. (Which i'm now learning doesn't just mean 'command & conquer') This was drawn over the space of an 6 hour shift using a ballpoint pen & *cringes* lined paper.
Up until this 'Cyco Miko' drawing, I hadn't picked up a pen in near a year (Signing my name doesn't count, yes?) and even before then never regularly, I was suspended from my account via some minor disciplinary matter and bought a pad of A4 lined paper to kill the time doodling, it's rekindled my interest to the point that i found this place and am now looking for a low-budget graphics tablet.** (Wacom Bamboo I think)
In terms of a theme, this sketchbook will likely contain varied ideas, many pertaining to Ice Hockey (long time player & fan), Martial Arts (dabbled in a couple of systems & maintain an interest - UFC fan) and general fantasy fiction with maybe a few game influenced pieces. (Xbox360 Live)
Here was another sketch I did whilst still suspended from the computers. (Access is restored now, that's how I found this place. )
Pointers in the direction of the most basic tablet tutorials would be handy too.
**Bought a tablet, (Wacom Bamboo Fun Small) so i've added my 1st paint here to change the thumbnail, maybe get a couple more views?
