    Wolf and Girl critique prz!

Just starting this one off, so it's ripe for crits.

Need help getting all the anatomy right... once I have that, I should be able to get this thing rolling.
Oh and in the final, they will be closer together, so the girl with be half covered by his back...

Anatomy's good, just revise the wolf's head - he looks a bit too young - and try not to hide hands. Even though they're difficult to draw, it's better to practice. The girl's eye is also at a slightly wrong perspective.

Oh, and I love wolves, so thanks for the post.

The wolf's head is a little small to my taste but it might be the design you want. His anatomy is pretty well drawn. However, the girl's face and body are really masculine - big eyebrow, the forehead is sticking out too much, waist much narrower than shoulders, big arm muscles.

Do some girl observation, there are plenty of them.... they are walking the streets like normal human beings.

The wolf looks good now, but you can make him look even better if you reference the head, and work the right arm a little (his left arm). Also, I'd bring the belt in a little more. It appears that you're going for a loose fitting look, but I'd still bring that belt in more. On the left side of the drawing, make the belt end just a little closer to his body - that should do that trick. His upper half is covered mostly by his arms, so you don't have to tweak the abs out much, but I'd fine tune the pecs just a tad bit. You've got an all around great start on him though.

As for the girl, if she's going to be only 50 percent visible and with her back turned then you haven't got much to worry about. Just reference the female neck and shoulders to make her look a little more feminine, and while the face is there with the proportions, you can improve the hair a little if you draw it less messy (meaning her hair style is just messy, not your work) - if you improve the hair she'll look better too. The devil's in the details.

Looks good so far, so keep it up!

    hi there,
im new to CA and im not exacty an expert at anatomy or drawing for that matter, but i can see the girl as falling, or maybe in motion as the pose looks to me as if the legs are not supporting her fully. I know 2 people have already posted, but i thought i'd let you know what i can see in the drawing anyway. hope this helps... (correct me if im wrong!! haha)

    Girl's Head...

Hey, new here as well. Excuse me if it's just me seeing things, but shouldn't the girl be facing foward a little more? Or is it just the chin/hair that's making it look like a profile view to me?

Again, sorry if I'm just seeing stuff no one else thinks is unreasonable.

Yeah, I agree with you all that the girl is really badly done... I'm going to start working on her tonight

From all aspects, the wolf in the first one is much better. However, the girl is greatly improved in her design.
Something else that I think you lost is the relation to each other, those might as well be two separate paintings. Oh, and why does the girl has such a blunt look in her eyes?

    Just my thoughts.

    malakai,

You're just fleshing out your figures on blank white backgrounds, and have done so for the last few posts.

This won't help your overall skill, just your figure drawing skill. So much more goes into the making of art, and you don't want to have to make up for these things you neglected later on in life. Start posting fully fleshed out compositions while working on anatomy studies and such and get better at everything at once.

The first wolf had WAY more attitude and body language.

"She took the ice cube trays out of the freezer. What kind of a sick bitch takes the ice cube trays out of the freezer?"

I hate to sound really dumb, but what do you mean by this statement?
