    Mahran's sketchbook

Hello there! Thanks for visiting my thread!

    Attachment 1009789

    Some pencil drawings...

These are a couple of assignments I did for a class I'm taking. It's a "Joe Kubert penciling course", which basically focuses on penciling for comic books. It's a lot of fun and it's really helped my work a lot...

Really nice start you have here. Although youre portrait could use a bit more refining and the fact that its a bit lopsided doesnt help. Keep at it!!

    Very nice goblin village!

I think the portrait is overrendered. You could leave more highlights in the face.

The trusectacon is also nice.. but creepy! :^)

Hey, good stuff man! I like your inks a lot. The flat over-saturated colors are not my cup of tea, but I understand that it's the style you persue.
Perhaps you could shear some anatomy drawings without the comic distortion??
    Cheers.

Awesome - this sketchbook is alive again! It'd be nice to have the comic page a little larger to see the details but looking pretty good mate! . My only crits are the pencils feel slightly 'overworked' and the perspective in the 2nd panel looks off (I think it's the center tower window lines - they have an over extreme change in angle)

Is this a commission piece or your own comic?

Keep it up dude! Post more!

    Hi

    Watching you. Keep em coming!

I'd like to see some more stuff except comics. And I agree the comments about the portrait. It needs less rendering and more highlights. But, anyway, you're better than me.

    cool stuff!

Since you seem to be a comics kind of guy, I'd advise you to get hold of a book like this http://www.amazon.com/Muscles-Motion.../dp/0823031454 and http://www.amazon.com/Dynamic-Wrinkl...ref=pd_sim_b_3 and go nuts with it. It's very important to get your anatomy and perspective down, plus the thousands of poses and gestures in those books will load you with ideas.

Another fun way for that is to pick your favourite sport, your team, your favourite athlete or whatever, search them on the internet and draw poses from what you find.
No better way to understand muscle movement than that!!!

all the best, and keep it coming!!!

Well, sometimes you improve even when you don't do anything... But ok. X)

That comic page looks cool. One thing I'm not so sure about is the tilting of the picture though. I think if you tilted it the other way, so that the monster was at the lowest point the monster would look heavier and have more impact.
