    The latest batch( big-ish?)

Hey all! This is stuff I've been working on for the past several months. They will be sold in a local shop here, and I hope to get them on my site soon. I wanted to create a child roaming through strange lands while depicting the four seasons. Originally it was to be a set of cards with minimal backgrounds in black and white. However, I had the itch to do full paintings, and here they be. The others are less childlike, and will hopefully appeal to an older set. Spoiled, and Bored are the ones my wife posed for me. Bored was to be just black and white pencil and charcoal, but my scanner sucks, so I had to add a little digital touch up here and there. The most obvious being the b/g. I took pics of myself for Not Quite Ripe. None really worked, so I just winged it. Trouble is a complete remake of an older picture I had done a couple years ago. All of these will be matted and shrink wrapped to be sold in a unique shop amongst all the north woods type places around here. All of these are drawn in pencil..some charcoal, and completed in Painter 9.5. Always looking for freelance work. Thanks for looking. I can be reached here. j e f f r e y @ j e f f r e y k o c h . n e t

This pic is for the Empty Room Studios artbook. A challenge for me, but I had help along the way from fellow artists working on the book as well.

It's really neat seeing how adding color to your drawings gives them so much more detail. Thanks for sharing those.

My only crit is in regards to the one of the guy fighting the horny-yeti looking thing in the snow. There is so much blur on the snow mass in the final render that I didn't register there was a mass in the snow at first.

Thanks for looking! There really is a lot more detail in a lot of the drawings, it's just that my scanner washes a lot of it out. I don't know how to fix it...oh well.

I still have time to fix something like that up in the barbarian piece. thanks man.

You have some amazing pieces up here, the goblin snowball fight is really quite excellent, thanks for sharing.

Great drawings and concepts and compositions, but I think the actual painting could be pushed more. The boy sitting in the rain, for example, has a very dull colour scheme, and while toned-down palettes wokr when done right, this one just looks a bit boring. The girl bathing in the flower, again, lacks depth. But the snowball fight works good, especially the contrast between the leg of the flying goblin and the bright snow behind. The man vs the Mammoth is epic!

    Thanks guys.

Serpian: I know what you mean about the boring bit. I played with the Spring one for a while. I wanted a dull feeling to it. Overcast and rainy, with nothing for the boy to do. I really don't know what else I can do to it. Any suggestions?

As for Spoiled, I really haven't come across any crits about it's depth. It's really supposed to be flattish. Not a real background...just some colors thrown back there. Thanks again guys.

Love the underwater (summer), bored, troubled and the portraits. Especially the portraits, they are fantastic!

    A little bit of critique:
The boy in first one (fall) looks a bit flat, so are the green elf-like creatures in the winter piece. Are you still working on those? Or you are aiming for a different style?
The mermaid head on top left corner in the summer painting doesn't really resemble a mermaid head, I thought it was a rock at first glance, only after looking at the other mermaid, I realize it's an upside down one. My suggestion would be to show a bit more of that mermaid, and have her hair flow the other way, since the hair flow of the other two mermaids suggest the current is flowing slightly upward, plus perhaps she's diving down a little.

Thanks. They are all considered done, but that doesn't mean I can't go back to them to touch up on what you've pointed out.
